How often does Mayo Clinic hold new grad residencies/programs? I've not been able to find any info regarding new grad residencies for the Rochester location, only the Phoenix and Jacksonville locations.

Rochester does not have a "residency" in the sense of a medical student. For nursing, once an applicant is hired to a icu/pcu, they are enrolled in a training program that lasts anywhere from 5-9 weeks. The Rochester campus has PCU/ICU new grad programs throughout the year. They are scheduled based on need of the individual units that are hiring. In 2009 I believe that there were only 1 or 2 classes, but that has picked up. Call or email a recruiter and ask about EPIC (essential of progressive and intensive care) This is the program that new grads go through before they begin work in a pcu/icu.

Hope that helps.

I've heard through the grapevine that Mayo Rochester is looking into the feasibility and benefits vs. drawbacks of a nursing "residency" program. It's my understanding that nursing residency is a newer concept that is catching on in a few places.
