I just finished an intense 2-day seminar required for my 4th semester and one of the things that we've learned is that the state of Michigan is unique in that it no longer has a "Nurse Practice Act." Back in 1978, it was replaced by the Public Health Code (PA 368), which consolidates regulations for all areas of health (dentistry, optometry, nursing, pharmacy, even veterinary medicine and many other health-related fields). Part 172 of the act deals specifically with nursing.

The booklet required for this seminar is "Legal & Professional Regulation of Nursing Practice in Michigan," published by the Michigan Nurses Association. It has some good information that Michigan Nurses should be aware of.

Anyhow, I thought I'd pass it along, since in the past when I've had questions about scope of practice in Michigan, I've done a Google search including the term "Nurse Practice Act" and haven't had much success.

Hope this helps!
