Macomb Community College - 2012 HESI

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Well, another year means another time for more score updates. I am getting ready to take my HESI in a couple weeks to apply for the 2012 Nursing Program and I must say I am really beginning to get nervous! Thanks to their recent addition of HHSC-1040 (right before I was apply :banghead:) I am just curious how everyone did, and what was it like this year? I have no clue what to expect and I have been searching forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am really not worried about the Math or Grammar sections. I'm more worried about the Vocabulary, Reading, and A&P section that they added. Any advice would be great. I already have the Evolve HESI book that I have been reviewing from for the past couple of months. I'm still just really nervous.

I don't have a HESI score yet, but my GPA to apply for the program is: 3.925.

Again, any advice would be grand!

I have received all the information I needed a month ago. I am an August start. I am so nervous. I just finished with all my vaccinations, titers, physical, etc. last week. Still have to run over and get my books and scrubs. Can't wait to start :w00t:

you'll have to let us late starters know how hard it really is :) altho I'm sure we'll all be doing our best anyway! good luck, you'll be fine!

Thank you for the Good Luck wishes!

I went over to get books today and I can tell you this...the books and other things we needed were a lot of money up front. Almost $1,500 for all the books (some used), the stethoscope, lab pack, 2 sets scrubs, patches, and lab coat. Also, the drug test, titers, vaccinations, and physical was about $350 total at Crittenton. I did need to start the Hep B series, had a TDap, had to get another MMR vaccination after titers, physical, and TB test. I still need to get and pay for 2 more Hep B shots. Also, the Ace Passport was $50 and my classes were almost $1600 (not a resident of Macomb). So, start up costs were roughly $3,500 for the first semester.... Yikes!! But, it will be well worth it in the end!! I'll let you all know how it goes.

Also, the Bookmark is a great place to get the books cheaper!!! And, it's right down the street from Center Campus at 19 mile and Garfield.

thank you jag10000,it helps to have idea of what the costs are. Hoepfully next semester will be a little less costly as you will have your immunizations done, and some supplies already bought. It is a big investment but like said should be well worth it. I still havent recieved my physical forms, but I dont start til Jan. I recieved the MSU info and am still considering it. I am wishing all of the August starts a wonderfulllllll first semester, and am rooting for you!!!!(PS any advice or even the occasional posts on how it is going would be awesome!) Also when does the August semester begin?

Also, the Ace Passport was $50 QUOTE]

about that passport - is that something from the bookstore or will we get a letter or something, I don't remember? And what is in that mysterious lab pack?? thx :)

was this all your books for the program of just the first semester???

Thank you for the Good Luck wishes!

those were just your books for the first semester??

has anyone used digital textbooks or know if there is any available for the nursing classes?

I'm a Jan Start! Seems so far away!!

I contacted MSU and you can apply as early to MSU as early as your first semester in the Macomb program, however, in order to apply you must have the additional prerequisites completed at Macomb before you can apply to MSU! Hence, I am a January MCC start so I am cramming all additional prerequisites for the MSU program into the fall semester, a whopping 19 credits, so I can apply in Januray. This is too good an opportunity not to at least try!! You can check what the additional prerequisites are on the school home page and search RN to BSN program and it will show you the necessary courses. Only 60 credits will transfer so this will ensure all of your credits transfer to MSU. Also, they take 40 students at a time, with 4 different start times, like MCC. Good Luck everyone!!

The books were for the first 16 weeks. I am thinking we will use some of them later (like Clinical Calculations, Review for the NCLEX, and of course the Medical Dictionary-encylopedia set). Also, the Passport was online test....3 of them, pretty easy. It's like a learning module...so, no studying ahead necessary. The lab pack ... I peeked in really quick, it had syringes, IV bag, I think Catheter stuff, IV tubing and more. My kids were around, so I really didn't have a chance to take it all out yet. I am getting excited though!

Hi everyone,

August Start date is growing too close. I hope everyone knows that there is reading that has to be done prior to classes. I think its for NURS 1165. Anyway I'm curious if anyone has picked up the

Macomb CC Clinton TWP Pkg. I'm curious as to what it includes. I went through all my lists and books trying to figure out which books I still need. If someone could send the message that would be great!

two questions... has anyone with an october start received a "checklist" of things thats need to be completed before the start of nursing? i need to find somewhere that i can take my ACLS really soon, any suggestions? Also are we required to wear our scrubs to all classes or just the clinical classes?
