Macomb Community College - 2012 HESI

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Well, another year means another time for more score updates. I am getting ready to take my HESI in a couple weeks to apply for the 2012 Nursing Program and I must say I am really beginning to get nervous! Thanks to their recent addition of HHSC-1040 (right before I was apply :banghead:) I am just curious how everyone did, and what was it like this year? I have no clue what to expect and I have been searching forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am really not worried about the Math or Grammar sections. I'm more worried about the Vocabulary, Reading, and A&P section that they added. Any advice would be great. I already have the Evolve HESI book that I have been reviewing from for the past couple of months. I'm still just really nervous.

I don't have a HESI score yet, but my GPA to apply for the program is: 3.925.

Again, any advice would be grand!

hi everyone! I got in for a fall start date my gpa was a 3.5 and I had a 91 hesi as well

congrats to everyone else that got in and the alternates as well! looking forward to meeting some of you!:)

don't worry I keep kicking myself for my hesi score and yours is better but at least I made the alternate. Congrats to you great job

Thank you and I'm sure you'll get in, being #10 on the alternate list is pretty good! From what I heard, they took more than 10 last year from the list. :)

The letter says Fall Term. I don't think it means August start. The orientation is where they put you in your start time. I think.

Got my letter...made the alternate list. Applied with a 90 HESI and 3.0 gpa. Does anyone know how many alts there are? I believe I am #37. What are my chances of getting in as an alternate? Will be sure to go to meeting and keep my spot. Any thoughts?? Congrats to those who did make it in or those that are alternates.:yeah:

Does anyone else need to take BIOL 1400? I plan to take it in the Fall if anyone wants to sign up together, let me know! I'm pretty sure with my gpa/hesi I won't be starting until January or March 2013. :)

My daughter and my son's girlfriend both got in! I am thrilled for all of you.

You will find out your start later through the mail if they are still following the same format as before. Usually your start date is determined by ranking, so those that ranked higher up will be the August starts and so on. I started the program in March 11 and have 1 semester and 10 weeks left of school (I'm not counting or anything :)) - the time truly flies by!

Again, congratulations to everyone!

Ugh...

GPA: 3.45

HESI: 84

Rank: 175

for bio 1400 the only advise I have is do not take it with Bell (if he is still teaching it) I did not liked how he lectured or tested but good luck to you

Does anyone know if the orientation is all together for ppl who got in and alternates or do they separate the alternates out and have another orientation for them? Just curious Thx

Congrats to all who got in and who are all on the alternate list

In the past the orientation for the alternates is at a different time.

Thank you!! and do you know if the alternates get a spot before orientation how will we be notified?

I agree with zhockeymom77; if it's the same process as last couple of years, you pay your $100 before the deadline. When you do that, you can present your letter to the admissions office to find out your raking (if you want). Then you go to the orientation meeting next month. Sometime after the orientation meeting, they will mail you your official start date.

There's a few reasons why they can't tell you already when you will start.

One, not everyone that was accepted will accept their seat. Some may have gotten into programs at other schools, or another program at Macomb, and chose to do that instead.

Two, some people that rank high enough to start in August/October may not have completed all of the pre-reqs (nutrition, psych,... ). (Or at least registered for the summer term...) These people will need to use the Fall semester to complete those pre-reqs before they can start the nursing courses.

Three, some people that rank high may not be able to start in an earlier start date for various reasons, and may be granted their request to start as late as March.

aaaaaaaand..... back to studying. :)

P.S. Congrats to all!

shelbyjosh - Last year I was #36 and did not get a spot. I called every so often so see if my name had moved up the list and the last time I called I believe there were about 15 names still in front of me. I would still go to the meeting cause you won't have a chance if you don't. Keep your faith cause you never know. I think someone told me that a few years ago all the alt's were taken so anything is possible. I'll say some prayers for you!
