Did anyone take the kaplan last month for baker college clinton township? Im stressing out waiting to see if I'll get in. I have a 3.99 and scored a 79% on the kaplan. My total points are 25.8 not sure if thats good enough. Has anyone heard anything about average scores or possible lowest point total getting in? Serious stressing over here. lol

I am at Baker Flint and the dean of nursing told me the lowest last cycle was 25.4 and that she did not expect the total to go much higher, the average on the Kaplan at our campus is 73% and that few ever get into the 80s the high is 90 right now, but there was testing today and will be again on the 20th

you have a shot with 25.8 but Ive looked at the numbers and points a billion times and how it adds up if you did that well on the Kaplan and your GPA was good im wondering did you lose points somewhere else? Those numbers should get you in, I was told a 27 guarantees it but I also keep in mind who am I competing against a lot of my fellow students are either repeating courses, or barely passing them to begin with. Another issue the dean is telling people you can't study for the Kaplan, I had to bite my tongue HARD not to tell her how wrong she was, I would not tell ANYONE to not prepare in some fashion for a test that counts for nearly half your entrance that's ridiculous to me for real

I didnt lose any points, I actually got extra points for not re-taking any classes and no transfer classes. GPA points I have 11.9 out of 12 cause I had all A's and One A- in comp2, plus the max 2 points for transfer credits (0-8 credits), then max 3 points for no courses repeated and a 79% on the kaplan got me 8.9 points. Thats were I came up with the 25.8 points. I just hate waiting and wondering. They said we'll find out mid August, seems like forever.

At 25.8 you have a very strong chance getting in, I don't know what your campus standards are or the averages, your dean of nursing should have told you that. Ours told us before the Kaplan that testing day here is the high, here is where the average is and if you are below this you will not get in, the highest this cycle has been 90, very few 80's and most do in the 70s so GPA comes in for them, in your case I would not stress I would find out how folks around you are doing. I know somewhat from classes, I know who is repeating stuff, they tell you, I also know who doesn't pass the hard classes because they stop showing up all of a sudden even though they had been coming the previous 6 weeks. I was told the Kaplan itself is the same for us the only thing that changes is the order of the questions, so for science for example, had two questions I remember where the same for myself and someone else. What is normal respiratory rate? Another question was in what order does the heart correctly pump blood and you had to choose the numerical order that was correct. Writing passage about women's rights and legislation in the 1960's had to be corrected, which sentence does not belong? What sentence is extraneous. Was your Kaplan recent? And if so was it similar?

I also have all A's and one A- I got outta pharnacology, I keep wondering if the grading differs from campus to campus because one 4 credit pharm course A- (3.7 honor points) took my cumulative down to 3.97 overall so when I hear folks on here say they have a 3.99 or 3.98 I wonder how that adds up too, not saying it's not possible but I have all As and one A- I went from 4.0 cum to 3.97 cum

Hello,

Im Rob, Just recently applied as a new applicant to Clinton Twnshp Nursing. Like you I'm waiting a stresful wait. I have a 3.95 and 72 on my Kap. Seems like your ahead of me so congrats, hope that eases your stress a bit. Some things I've been hearing kind of go both ways. Heard a girl had a straight 4.0 and went to ask the dean whats the least possible grade she can have on her Kap to get in. Her reply was a 68. Another person taking the kaplan with me, i decided to get a drink of water, went passing by the doors again to see this girl crying because she got a 62. This administration person comes along and looks at her test to tell her its fine and for her not to be suprised if she gets in. She said people dont do as great as others think and not to believe everyone when they tell you their scores. So all in all, its all talk and rumor until judgment letters come. Good luck. Im just crossing my fingers like the rest of you but not getting my hopes up no more after reading the initial thread.

Just came across this by accident, should this not be in the Michigan Nursing Program area?

I took the Kaplan in May and applied for this fall as a new applicant. Even tho "technically" overall GPA doesnt matter- bc it depends on the class you received the A- in. Certain classes are worth different points. My overall points were 25.8 and the only points I lost was due to the Kaplan. I have spoke with Karen G twice now and she has given me the same reheorificed speech both times. Average on test was 70% anything over that was considered great. Cut off last time around was 25.4 and she was going to "try" to have the letters mailed out the first week of August. Both times I talked to her she literally gave me the same line "you are well positioned go home and relax" followed by "but i can not promise you the moon". She also told me that they conduct criminal backround checks on all applicants which also prolongs the process. I was also told by a student that u needed a 26 to get in and she literally laughed at me.

Here's what i do know, I recommend when you see someone in a nursing outfit talk to them if they have the time they are very forth coming with info. Also people lie, because it's competitive and folks are not honest about what they got, all you can do is your best my A- was in Pharm everything else A. So 25.89 I don't know what the cut off will be for Flint I was told I had a "good shot" Phyllis said, I was told the cut off would be higher than 25.4 but how much more she did not know, that was when I took my Kaplan. I do not know if I am in. I take nothing for granted, I do know if not now than in spring I would be PERIOD.

Just curious if you guys heard if you got in or not? I got my acceptance letter to Baker Flint on Saturday :) Just trying to find others who may be in the program with me....

I was accepted to baker of clinton township for this fall. Congrats on your acceptance
