To anyone who has been accepted to MSU's/UM's 2nd degree program...

I am applying to MSU and UM's 2nd degree accelerated program for 2014. I was wondering, from those of you who have been accepted to either program in the last few years, what was your gpa and experience level like?

I went to MSU for three years and had applied to their traditional program with a cumulative gpa of 3.4 and was rejected twice. I had about the same gpa in my nursing pre-reqs. I then graduated from another college with a bachelor of science in business with a cumulative gpa of a 3.55.

I have had past experience volunteering in the PACU for one summer, but that was 4 years ago. I am in the process of starting to volunteer at a local blood center. I have also spent 5 years working as a pharmacy tech in a retail pharmacy and 1 year working as a veterinary assistant.

I would appreciate any thoughts about how you view my chances of getting into either MSU or UM's program. UM's avg entrance gpa for the accelerated program is a 3.4, and MSU's is a 3.6.

I also called UM and they stated that they do not do rolling admissions (however, a lot of old threads suggest they do.) Does anyone have anything to add about their admission's process?

Wow you found out already? I'm anxiously awaiting my response! Hopefully this week! But I am also hoping to pick between MSU and U of M, however I think U of M is probably going to take a lot longer to respond. Have you heard anything from them yet?

No I haven't hard anything from them. Their program is a lot more credits than msu's though so I think I'll probably jut go to msu if I get into uofm. Uofm does seem to take a long time to make decisions. I am talking with a uofm advisor tomorrow to hear mre about their program so that could factor in to the decision. Yes I've only heard about one other person getting into msu so far. Not sure why they sent out only a few decision letters. I've never heard I them doing that before.

Yeah, that is interesting you already heard from State. If you don't mind me asking, when did you send your completed application in to them?

I'm hoping U of M won't take quite as long to hand out decisions as it sounds like they did last year.

I've gotten into one school in Indiana, but would much more prefer U of M or MSU.

I didn't send my app in to msu until dec 9 I think.

I heard from State today, and unfortunately it was a denial. How did your meeting at U of M go? Did the U of M advisor have anything to say about when decisions may be given?

I'm sorry :( uofm said that they extended the app period to march 1 so they hope to have decisions out to us by early May :( doesn't look like it'll be speedy.

That's okay, I have a couple other options thankfully. It's a bummer that U of M is going to wait that long to give out decisions again!!:no: I hope it helped for you to meet and talk to them!!

Yes it did. I mainly wanted to compare the amount of time per credit hour for the program compared to msu's. Michele was very nice and helpful. I'm sure she would be happy to answer any questions you have for her too.
