ABSN vs RN

Hi Everyone,

I am pursing my nursing degree and because I have a previous Bachelor's, I qualify for the ABSN program. I have read a lot of negative feedback on this site, and run across the same thing from several nurses that I have talked to in person, stating that they don't think that the ABSN programs develop competent nurses. Has anyone heard the same thing? and if so, can you explain why? My thoughts are that the local community colleges are graduating RN's with the same amount of healthcare schooling as the ABSN's, and the RN to BSN bridge curriculum is mostly critical thinking, logic and elective coursework... so if I have already completed the non-nursing related courses, then how could there be much of a difference?

Feedback is much appreciated, so that I can make an informed decision on which degree to pursue in the fall. I am worried that if ABSN degree's are looked down upon by the medical community then I may have trouble finding a job

My ABSN program is exactly the same in length as the traditional...it just goes through summers. same tests, same classes, same NCLEX...so it depends on the program. honestly i think some people are jealous that some people got it done faster.
