Hello everyone,

I just recently posted and commented on some of the threads here and I was inspired to share some of my ongoing life story as a male nurse.

How I thought of becoming a nurse?

I was in elementary school at my birth country when I decided that I would be taking RN after high school. I will be the first nurse in my family.

Nursing Profile:

I attended 2 years taking the BScN program at a University at my birth country when I needed to stop in order to immigrate to Canada. I was 18 turning 19 this time.

I went back to high school in Toronto to finish my preparatory classes for my nursing program for 2 years. I graduated class of 2011 with flying colours.

I applied and attended the RPN program at a Community College for 2 years. I graduated class of 2013. Passed the Licensure Examination. Registered Practical Nurse by CNO. I was 22 turning 23 this time.

I worked various jobs after graduation excluding nursing jobs.

I'm going back to a Community College to take my RPN bridging to BScN Graduate Certificate this fall 2014.

May I ask why you haven't started working a nursing job?

I tried to apply but I got disappointed. I guess I didn't try hard enough.

I think everyone experiences that, you have to keep applying. What will you do when your registration is no longer valid because you haven't worked?

Yes, absolutely right. I am going back to school for my graduate certificate to improve my skills, feel more confident, and competent. :)
