Volunteering is great. No better way than to get in front of a nurse manager or two and maybe talk to them and give them your resume to consider you when they have an opening. Quite a few hospitals here in NYC prefer new grads volunteer there first...
I don't think you will have much luck applying to jobs before passing the NCLEX...especially in NY. Most of the hospitals won't even look at your application without passing the NCLEX first.
I graduated in December, passed NCLEX in Feb and just got a job very recently after sending HUNDREDS of applications (east coast and midwest mainly). I felt like the interviews and job offers came in bunches so just keep applying, search for open in...
That makes sense. Do any of you plan on working during the program? I want to think that I can handle a part time job of like 16-20 hours a week but obviously doing well in the program is the #1 priority.

Orientation is in July (maybe the 12th or 13th, or both days). I will be at orientation. It would be nice if someone gave us the scoop of what they have learned from the "meet and greets" or what the current students think of the program. Either wa...
jdubs, I had a 3.27 undergrad GPA, 4.0 prerequisite GPA, and have been volunteering at a hospital since January (so not much experience). Hope that helps. Dan
I applied at the end of February, got accepted in mid April, filed for financial aid about a week and a half ago and just received my financial aid today. Hope that timeline helps.
KKandes, I wouldn't base it simply on financial aid. I applied, and got accepted before I filed for financial aid. Don't get discouraged yet. It is rolling admissions and they have yet to send out more letters so there is no reason to get discoura...
Yea, I paid my deposit today for NYU. I also applied to Concordia College in NY, and will also apply to Cleveland State, and Valparaiso. I will most likely go to NYU but I would like to have an option to go somewhere cheaper and/or in the Midwest.
