  1. So I got rejected from NP school...

I think the OP had 1 year experience. But then again, she might be on her second career too. Everyone's situation is different, who am I to second guess everyones desires. Yet, I can definitely imagine someone, fresh out of school, believing that ...
  2. So I got rejected from NP school...

If you're already a nurse, what's the big rush to become an NP? You all seem to be fairly young, only having worked a year or two, and its not like there won't be plenty of sick people to perscribe stuff to in the distant future. My advice, for wha...
  3. with 3 kids, go CC.
  4. Ages of male nursing students?

37 and am taking pre/co-regs to hopefully start nursing school part time next year. Am currently a chemist. Figure I'll actually get my RN when I'm 41, BSN when I'm 43, and FNP when I'm 47, all part time.

I'm a PhD chemist, about 10 years in drug discovery. I'll likley start taking coreqs this summer for a community college ADN program. With the waist list it'll probably take ~5 years before I'm actually an RN, but I guess I've got time. After that...
  8. Male going into nursing (hopefully)

What professions do you mean? The hard sciences, chemistry, physics, and I believe engineering too, are extremely welcoming of women and minorities. No one wants to be forced to study and work with nothing but a bunch of nerdy guys, not even other ...
  9. Male going into nursing (hopefully)

"Nursing schools and other relevant groups need to create programs to recruit and retain more individuals from racial and ethnic minorities, as well as men—who make up just seven percent of all RNs—into the nursing profession." Straight from the IOM...
  10. I *do* recognize the need for nursing theory

Hi All, I’m not a nurse, or even in the clinical health care field, but I stumbled upon the concept of nursing theories and out of curiosity to learn more read this thread. Thanks to all those who have been contributing your thoughts, I feel like I...
