About nurseqt77

nurseqt77 has 21 years experience as a ASN, RN and specializes in Home Health.

I have been in nursing for 21 years. I started out at 18 as a CNA. I became an LPN when I was 23, then went straight through the pre-req's for the RN Bridge, and graduated when I was 25. I was a single mom at the time with at least one full time job, if not 2 during those 3 very tough years. I am almost 15 years older now, and I have a crazy ambition to go back for my NP. By my reckoning that is another 3 years. My husband, children and boss have been duly warned. The pharmacy is on standby for ready dispensing of meds!

    Get CNA cert? Before NP?

I would get any hands on training you can. I went from CNA to LPN to RN, and am hoping to get into FNP school here soon. I cannot stress how important every step was. I get a TON of street cred, for having "gotten my hands dirty", plus I learned SO m...

WHY do so many people hate nursing? Sigh.

Are people expressing a hate for nursing, or are other nurses expressing a hate for nursing? If nurses are expressing the hate, do not be discouraged...those are people who obviously should have chosen another profession, and they are bitter about it...

Customer Service Surveys Have Run Amok

I am a survey hypocrite. I read all of them before I purchase a bobby pin, but I buy a Microsoft Surface, which I adore, but I can't be bothered with answering the feedback email. I hope my patients are more considerate when Medicare send them their ...

Should I "waste" my time getting an ADN?

No education is a waste of time. I got my LPN, cuz it only took 1 year, then I earned LPN wages while working on my ADN, instead of CNA wages. Either way it was 3 years to ADN, if you counted the year of pre-reqs. Now I am going from ADN to FNP, the ...
