If so, how do you like it and does it jive well with your schedule? How do you keep from getting depressed cause you are working and everyone else is off? Do you get more per hour or do a 32/40 type thing.

Thanks

I work Fri and Sat nights...work 24, get paid for 32 and get full-time benefits. I LOVE it. I can request one weekend off every 8 wks. My husband and I own a body shop, located on our home property. If we want to go do something, we just go during the week (we do have a full time employee, plus a part-time contract employee). Most of my 3 kids' activities are scheduled during the week. The kids like having me available through the week. I do get VERY sleepy on Sunday mornings in church though!

I work Sat/Sun doubles and get payed for 40 hrs. I love it, because my husband is home with the baby on weekends and I am home all week. I do not like to listen to radio or TV on fridays, because they keep saying have a great weekend or thank God its Friday, or they give you the forecast for a beautiful weather on the weekend. I know I will be at work the whole time, they don't have to rub it in:lol2: .

Thanks for the responses. My hospital is offering a Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon weekend shift- 7a-7p. It pays $5 more per hour. I figure that's about $10,000 more per yr. I am not attending classes this summer but usually go Tue and Thurs during the school yr. I am bummed about not going to have an actual day off with my husband, but he and my 13 yr old daughter are supportive. It will be temporary until I can complete a transitional nursing program. I am not finished with my pre-req's so this year is out. Hoping to start July 2007. Then I will have to drop to 24hrs/wk. I have been hoarding my PTO in anticipation of nursing school. I hope this is God's answer to my prayers

I have been working w/e option plans for 16 years.(Sat/Sun 7a-7p). We're paid a premium diff. and full time benefits, and get 1 w/e off per quarter. Started when my children were small and we had moved and knew no one, so we didn't have to worry about childcare.I still do it and watch my granddaughter during the week. LOVE IT!

hope I will too!

It gets old in a hurry. The money is ok 6.00/hr more plus a 13% shift diff but to know where you are going to be calling "home" every Sat and Sun night for the next 6 months is not something I will sign up for again....

I have been working weekends for about a year now. I work Thursday, Friday and Saturday night 7p-7a. We get shift diff. plus $550.00 bonus every payperiod which is every two weeks. We are also allowed to have every 8th weekend off if we reuest it off and can use our paid time off hours to pay for it. I love it. I am home during the week with my kids for activities and it works out well for us. Good luck!!!!!!

I do! I have been working weekends for as long as i can remember. my husband works thurs-mon so it works for us and plus we get to spend our time off together. i try to pick up a shift during the week but i do get more money and get full time benefits(although i dont need) and get a w/e off every 6months. Actually i get annoyed when i have the weekend off b/c it is too busy at the stores on the roads etc so i end up staying home anyways,. yeah it is a bummer not to be able to go to church on sundays ( i go on wed.) and not seeing my friends but in our profession someone is going to have to work the weekend sometime so it works out. good luck w/ your new position you will do great...nevermind that the hospital is ALOT less busy on the weekend so alot more patient interaction and better attentiveness to their needs(at least in my opinion)
