So now I have a question

This resident never walked on unit but did walk in rehab room with parallel bar and 2 therapist assist.

This from G section on how a Resident walk in corridor on unit.

I coded

Total Dependence---Acitivity did not a occur...

She is transported in a wheelchair from room to off unit (activities, rehab ect).

Is this correct? I was told by DON I coded wrong.

Thanks Emily

The concept is correct, the coding is wrong. The correct code is 8/8.

Key points:

  • If Column A is Activity Did Not Occur, Column B should always be Activity Did Not Occur.
  • If Column A is Total Dependence, Column B can only be 1-person or 2-person.
  • Walk in Corridor/Walk in Room is never coded Total Dependence. The staff would either be carrying or dragging the resident if that is the case.

FRom my limited experience I would agree it should be coded 8/8... I do so wish I could get the nursing staff to understand this though!

Actually that is what I coded now that I think about it. And makes better sense. The DON just keep arguing about how the Resident had walk in rehab with PT.

Thanks

Emily
