Hi,

I applied for the Fall 2011 LPN program and was looking to see if anyone else on the board has also also applied. Also, for those who have gone through the program or are currently in it, how soon did you hear whether or not you were accepted? I'd love to hear thoughts about the program! Thanks!

I am still working on my app but will also be applying. I've heard it was a good program-at 10 months, the timing of it can't be beat.

Hey are they still accepting apps for fall 2011? I thought the cutoff date was feb 25th.

NSCC only gaurantees application consideration if it is in by the close of business 2/25/11. They will accept applications after that, but only if there is still space in program/waitlist. I got mine in on the last day, and I'm hoping to hear back before April. We'll see!

Make sure you check out their application checklist/packet. TEAS scores (test must be taken at NS) and an information session are required to submit the application. Let me know if I can answer any more questions for you...I just about memorized all of the requirements because I was so paranoid that I would forget something.

Best of luck!

:) Emma

I know, it's wonderful that it's only 10 months. Can't wait to hear back...anything...I'm so anxious!

I am currently waitlisted at middlesex cc for their RN program. I thought maybe i should try to get in for nscc lpn 2011 since i really dont want to wait till fall 2012, thats soooo far away. My prereqs are done, right now im at nscc taking a cna course. I do think its too late for me to apply for northshore nursing. I still need to take the teas. Goodluck to u.... Hope u get in!

Hello! I applied and was accepted to NSCC in the LPN program in 2006. I applied in February and got a letter of acceptance about 3 weeks later. They sent me a big envelope in the mail. They might have changed how they let students know if they are accepted but it was pretty quick and I applied last minute.

I also didn't have very good grades in High School (2.35). I think they really look at how you answer the questions on the application packet and your references.

Hey emma, are there anymore info sessions left for 2011?

I wonder if I should attempt to go to one or if itll be too late

Thanks, lcann! I appreciate it...I'm constantly checking the mail. How did you like the program? Did you have trouble finding a job afterwards?

Erin,

if you go to http://www.northshore.edu/cms/file/academics/programs/pnr/admission_requirements_and_application_packet/Practical%20Nursing%202011%20Application%20Packet.pdf, there's a list of info session dates near the end of the packet. I couldn't open it on the old laptop that I'm using, but that's where the dates are. You should apply, it's worth a shot. I debated applying to Rivier's BSN, and to community RN programs, but decided I didn't want to wait around on a list or spend close to 30k a year. Also, Salem State has a really good LPN to BSN program that I'm planning on applying to once (if) I finish the LPN program. So I guess that's something to think about if you're considering taking the LPN route. Good luck!! :)

Thanks Emma, I checked it out. I may go to the one at the end of march. Thats a good idea about the lpn to bsn at salem state. I heard their program is good.

Em,

I didn't graduate. I had an issue with one class and didn't pass it by less than a point. Not to badmouth anyone but I feel I was graded unfairly in the one of the classes. Almost all of the professors were incredible and excellent at teaching. I would highly recommend doing your pre reqs before entering the program so you aren't taking 18 credits in a semester. When you get in, see if you can take a couple of classes over the summer just to reduce your course load. It was a lot of studying and work. I did learn a lot in my few months in the program though.

I still talk to a few people from my class and they all found jobs no problem. I am actually applying to a BSN program for the fall and one of my former professors from NSCC has been a very valuable resource. If you want to know any more info, pm me. I don't want to go into which professor I had a problem with on the boards here : )

Good luck everyone!!!

I got in...phew.

My acceptance package seems to be missing a bunch of stuff, though. Did anyone hear back?
