Just curious, what can a new grad expect for salary at AJH? Thanks!

I would like to know the same thing...

I work there. $25.50-$26/hour, but they are not hiring new grads at this time.

I think that salary is very good. It's not much less than what the hospitals in Boston pay, and you dont have to pay all that extra money for rent, food, parking, etc....prices in Boston are so expensive. I'm not graduating for another two years. Is there a chance they will at some point hire new grads? Is there any particular reason they dont hire new grads and has it always been that way?

Thanks!

They are not especially new grad friendly to be honest. They don't have a dedicated new grad residency program. If you have your heart set on working there your best bet is to obtain a PCT position while in nursing school. They also only hire new grads to med-surg, without exception. It's a great hospital with great staff for the most part though!

I'm trying to get into Med Surg there now. I need to get out of my current facility, and AJH is right down the street. I'm praying and crossing my fingers I get this position...

evilolive...are you a new grad? and sarabeth...Anna Jaques DOES hire new grads into med/surg?

No, I am not a new grad, but I still feel like one sometimes! I have worked in LTC for 10 months since getting my RN license.

Britany, they do very rarely but it does happen. However, it is usually someone who worked as a tech there. With all the budget cutbacks they can't really spend the money it takes to train a new grad at this time.

Yeah I heard on the news how badly the hospitals are being affected by the economy. I am hoping it will be better in a couple of years when I graduate :-) How do you get a job as a tech and what exactly is that?

It's basically a CNA. Different hospitals use different titles for their aides/nursing assistants. It's easiest to get hired if you're looking for per diem. If you really want to work at AJ give their human resources department a call and ask if there are any per diem nursing assistant positions available. As long as you've completed your first semester of nursing school you qualify to work as a nursing assistant.
