I wanted to get some information from any current student, but I really want to know about the application process, admitting Gpa and the TEAS test.

    Sincerely,

    Hi,
I'm also applying for Coppin State University Fall 2013. There aren't many of us on here, or so it seems.. good news for us I guess! Did you ever hear of any more information? Also, Are you applying for the BSN or ABSN?

I applied too but I don't know that I applied correctly. The web page online said you had to be accepted to the university first but the university wouldn't review my application until all of my classes were final which didn't make any sense because I plan to continue taking classes until I start nursing school. I don't think they do a good job explaining the application process online and when I called admissions for help they were absolutely no help. This was my last choice of schools I applied to so I kinda just let it go. Anyone else know how the app process works?

I am in the same boat as you! I gave them all my transcript as of now, but because I'm still attending class they said my application can be put on hold. SO I told them that I'm willing to take the rest if it means I can get in.

That's just so strange! I actually finished all of my classes for their program a little bit ago so it doesn't make sense that they won't review my app. I'm not going to stop going to school just so they can review it. Oh well, it wasn't my top choice anyway so I'm just giving up on Coppin!

COPPIN IS A SPECIAL SCHOOL. And in special I dont mean anything good. Admissions and financial aid office are a mess and filled with people that dont give accurate information. Often times they dont quite understand your entire situation and give students answers to dismiss them. Be careful about this when applying to coppin. FInd all the information you can online first. Arm yourself on knowledge regarding the nursing program prior to calling them. Ask direct questions. Avoid round about questions and if not possible meet with them in person. Also if possible meet with more then one person and get several opinions from both administrators, current students, and nursing programs coordinators.

As I stated above visit Coppins website, hit the academics tab and click on the school of nursing. Then scroll down on your right hand side and hit undergraduate if this is the degree of choice. Read this in addition to what I provide here as the information regarding there admissions process is forever changing. (This is due to the fact that the program is still making adjustments)

Prior to applying to Coppin please contact ------------ or ---------. Avoid ------------- for yours and my sake. (Her attitude may turn you away) This is what I did. ----------- provides you with the most accurate information regarding the programs and its changes. He also educates you on the requirements and were you stand in the process.

After speaking to him I applied to the university first. Once accepted I proceeded to applying to the nursing program. I forwarded them all my transcript from every university attended. After this if you meet basic requirements and show proof that you are enrolled in courses needed to fill the requirements, you will be invited to the school to take the teas test on certain dates within the spring semester. In my program if your gpa is a 3.5 or higher you are automatically accepted despite your score on the teas. (Those with this gpa still have to take the teas)

The school requires that you get an 80% on 2 out of the 3 sections. Or all sections excluding the science portion. This score on the science section will not matter and does not affect your admission into the program.

Once you pass the Teas, you will be notified usually late may early june about the admissions decision. If you dont get accepted initialyl you may send a written letter directly to the dean of the program. She may make considerations based on conditional acceptance. What Im telling you here many are unaware of.

Despite the fact that the minimum gpa requirement is a 2.5, Coppin generally accept students with 2.7 and higher. BUT this is likely to get higher as the programs new incoming class is likely to get smaller and thus become more competitve. When I applied I had a 3.1 gpa.

Im a current nursing student at coppin and its a migraine dealing with these departments. I avoid them at all cost.

I have a problem with my transcipts with another school which they messed up on my grades and gave me F's for classes when i was on financial aid hold. I still finished with you 2.97 but the prior school said they will correct it which i will end up with a higher GPA. As of now with all u saying would i have a chance they would even accept me. I already applied to the college. Awaiting word. My cousin girlfriend went their and said about the same thing. Trust me im listening to what everyone tells me.
