I'm a soon to be new grad and recently took a position at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I will be relocating from Massachusetts to Baltimore and am starting to explore the area. I was wondering if there are any other new grads who will be starting at Johns Hopkins in August as well. I'm hoping I will find a roommate who is also going to be a New Grad! Let me know! I'd love to chat!

Can't say I'll be starting there yet. I have and interview April 18th. Where are you going to be working? Any tips for the interview process? How was the "share time" and how soon after your interview were you hired? Do you mind me asking what type of degree you'll be earning? Sorry for all the questions!

Great, just what this town needs - another Red Sox fan.

Congratulations, in what unit will you be working?

Most of the younger crowd seems to gravitate towards Federal Hill (South Baltimore, on the other side of the harbor) or Canton (just up the street). The local housing market has been pretty crazily inflated, but the ballon is losing air quickly, so hopefully there's some deals out there.

Good Luck!

Hi All!!

NewGradCara, what unit are you on? I'm from Boston, Mass and I was just contacted for an interview in the ED. How was your interview? What is the starting salary for new grads? I'm really looking forward to the interview, nervous, but I am willing to move down there if they'll accept me!!

Anyone else with any advice for a new grad??:nuke:

Hope to hear from you soon!

Carol

Go Red Socks!:yeah:

I am from MA too and I just got an interview at JHH. the position I applied for ICU is unavailable but I am thinking that I will take a stepdown or ER position there if I am offered and maybe transfer later. How was your interview? a bit nervous you know. Do you know what the starting pay is for new grads there? I am hearing mixed things---that they pay the lowest in the area d/t their reputation. Could you please tell me if new grads have to sign a contract there? Thank you. Appreciate any help you can give me.

Hello Everyone

JHH pay is increasing on June 30th they realized they were below the average of all the other hosptials. I've been an lpn for lots of years and just graduated with my RN BSN. My pay is pretty good considering they are paying me for a five year RN due to my LPN years. I'f you do rotating hours your pay will relfect in this. I believe all nurses all salaried so a lot of things are incorporated. Good Luck

Well that is very good news. I never considered Hopkins because of their reputation for low pay and their "good name" isn't something impresses me enough to work for lower than average wages. :)

Can someone post the current new grad rate for JHH and differentials? I haven't been able to find it listed anywhere within past posts, nor on the JHH job descriptions. I'm so used to browsing the UCLA, UCSF and other hospitals within the UC system out here who post a full description and salary range.
