The LTC company i work for seems to change Administrators every 2 yrs. For some reason they let the DON go too. My facility is in turmoil; ADON trying to change things that involve inter-departmental duties. New Admin been there a week. New DON coming next week. Department heads assigning some of their department duties to nursing. ADON is too timid to stand up to the others. RN supervisers with 25 yrs experience ready to revolt against new, additional duties which involve Activities and dietary, and laundry. Seems like until the new DON arrives and sets her agenda, the other departments are scrambling for the power to shift duties. It's a mess. ADON not experienced enough to hang tough for her department. No one wants to confront the ADON because she is doing the best she can, even though her inexperience is showing in spades. Thanks for letting me rant.

Unfortunately, this scenario is very typical in LTC. Hang in there, Hope things get better. :)
