Western Career College??

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

I am an LVN, and I just started taking classes at my local community college to apply to their RN program. Then I got a postcard from Western Career college. Thay have an acceleratede LVN to RN program. It would be much more expensive, but faster than community college. I just wonder about their reputation. It is a new program, and Western Career College is known for their Medical Assistant and Dental Assistant programs.

I already calle WCC to find out more, but the "representative" didn't know anything, since it is a brand new program. She said someone would contact me. Of course that was before Christmas, and I haven't heard anything......

What do you all think?

In regards to choosing a nursing school, make sure you go to the CA BVNPT website and check out the school's pass/fail rate. Not knowing pass/fail rate can determine if you will pass your nclex. Some people seem to be concerned about the cost of going to WCC. Keep in mind they are a school funded by FASFA and Gov loans. If you are a displaced worker check out the WIA, they have a lot of money and they can assist with paying for school costs. WCC is on their list of acceptable schools.

LVN to RN. Take the Pre-reqs at the JC to save a lot of money beacuse those classes transfer for bridging to RN Program. The Antioch Campus had a 100% LVN pass rate and that speaks vol. Also keep in mind the waiting list for the JCs are long as 3-4yrs and alot of them are being closed or under investigation. Not going to go into all that. So there you have WCC is a great choice.

P.S. if you are working while at WCC pay on your tuition when you can so you can knock some of it down before you graduate.

Goodluck Everyone!

Is anyone attending WCC currently? I am going to the orientation on November 10th if anyone wants to come check it out with me :specs:

I kinda skipped some pages, so can someone tell me how often they admit students into the program? Thanks

I am looking into LVN and wanted to know if anyone is currently attending WCC or recently finished at WCC in Sacramento? I want some input about the program, staff, and everything else. Does the instructor make students feel like ****? Is it as bad as most ratings says and is it a degree program. Is it worth spending my money and taking loans? After reading all those bad comments, I'm afraid I'll end up in the same boat as well. Heard it's so ghetto too. It's been so long since I've been in school and I want to go back and become an LVN. Thanks.

I recently finished the LVN program at Carrington College. There were some issues and the some people complained about the teachers and staff. But for me it was a way to get my LVN fast, and get on to my RN. It does cost a lot but I'm not sitting on a waiting list wondering if I will ever get in. My advice is if you can get into an RN program a college or university do that but if not Carrington is a good alternative. I know several LVN grads from Carrington that have jobs and are very happy. :nurse:
