Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Currently I am an LVN working in California-been an LVN for years, I am the only one to put food on the table and make sure the lights are on every month,

It's high time I finally get that RN, hell, I do everything an RN does for way less money, respect and opportunities...

Now, I know in California, fearing for their own job security, the freaking RN's put a stop to the LVN bridging to ASN RN online and, so to make it as difficult as possible for LVN's to get certified as an RN the only way I can get the year more of education I need to require me to sit for RN boards in California, I either have to sit in a class FULL TIME (which, obviously I can't do, unless I find a sugar daddy to support me)

or

get a BSN online, which I've been allowed to do, (thanks to the great generousity of the head mother buddah RN) however, that course is thousands of more dollars and takes a minium of 3 years to complete.(of course)

So, I plan to take a normal ASN LV/LPN to RN course in California then sit for RN boards in another state, get licensed, then get a licensed in Calfornia where i actually work.

My question is, will california license me right away or is there a waiting period?

thank you

typically you need to submit proof of graduation from an accredited nursing program. you will then receive a letter that says you are ready to test and may make an appt. for your boards. since they are now computerized, results tend to be quick. once you pass boards, it's up to the institution you work for regarding pay. some will accept online proof that you have passed boards, others want to see your license in hand which means you have to wait for snail mail.
