LVN-RN QUESTION

I'm fairly new here so i'm going to provide a little back story.

I graduated froma state college few years back with a bachelor's in psychology since I wasn't getting into any nursing schools. Now, I'm trying to pursue nursing again but I'm having trouble deciding if i should do the LVN-RN program. I've talked to a couple of schools already and they are not cheap. So are they worth it? Is it worth it to go to an LVN program then to an RN? or just keep trying to apply for the RN?

any advice will be appreciated.

I think it depends on your grades and what not. Make sure your school is appropriately accredited for your area (ie: do the surrounding facilities require NLN for hire ability?)

Next, is there a ridiculous wait list for the LPN-RN students?

Finally, don't dish out too much money for this education. A license / associate degree is not worth paying $30,000+ for.

I was an LPN for 9 years when I graduated with my RN degree. It took 4 months to find a job that is 4 days per 2 week pay period and in LTC. I have been trying to land a hospital job for 10 months. Also, I have been trying to find a job to fill in my days off that will work out with my LTC position. So, you need to strongly consider how tough the job market is right now. Nursing programs have flooded the market and I've applied to over 70 jobs in all types of nursing (I've heard of others applying to more). Oh, and the icing on the the cake is all the money I owe for a job I can't seem to get! Somebody somewhere should do all prospective nursing students a huge favor and NOT encourage anymore people to enroll in nursing degree programs! I feel really bad for those who are recent grads like myself or soon to be new grads.
