LPN to RN or BSN

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

I just finished up my LPN program and am waiting to test. I just cant figure out my next step. Everyone tells me to go for my BSN, but I am 43 y/o now, and I dont know if that is really important to me at this stage, but I still want to work in a hospital. I have barely any prereq's. I was looking into a 1+1 program. It is way more expensive, but I could be done in 60 weeks and can start in March 2010. If I go the BSN route, it will take over 2 years. I am tired of school already just after a year of the PN program. I know jobs are scarce now too, and I just cant make up my mind. Any and all opinions are welcome.

The BSN degree will enable you to have more opportunities in the long run.

Think of it this way....when you are 60, do you still want to do bedside nursing (which at times can be a little tough), or have your BSN (while you're in the swing of school, go for the BSN) and do paperwork as an RN?

You are so right. I just want it all and I want it right now, I dont wanna have to wait, but I know I have to. I have decided to go the BSN route and take my time. At least I can still do nursing as an LPN in the meantime. Thanks so much!!!
