Just got the news that I have been accepted

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Assuming I get everything in on time, I will be accepted into the LPN to RN program this Fall. I have mixed feelings about it but overall I think this is the best thing for my career.

I graduated from the LPN program in 2011 and I have been unable to find work, so I am out of practice. I was told the LPN program was very hard, but I didn't find it to be that bad. I am hoping I will feel the same about the RN program. That being said, how should I prepare? I am taking my last prerequisite right now, but I feel like I should do something to help the program be less stressful. Any sites that offer review for free or any other ideas?

My main concern really is my lack of transportation. I have no clue how this is going to workout because I need a way to get to and from school and clinical and I have no money. I am hoping I can get enough loans and scholarships to make it work. Any advice on this?

Well I would land any job you can so you can get a point a to point b car . Or use student loans to buy yourself a cheap car. Sorry you couldn't find a job, I know for my bridge program they are very adamant about not going over LPN skills you should already know (like caths, g tubes, etc) so it if your school has a lab with a medical dummy I would practice. I know I will and I have been working since 2009. If your program is like mine then it's accelerated and they do not slow down to demonstrate simply nursing tasks. Good luck!

We will have some time for review, but not a ton. I have been looking for a job, any job, for 2 years without luck. So that option for a car isn't possible. I'm not sure if I will be able to get any student loans, let alone enough for a car. I hope this all works out.
