I'm so thrilled!:yeah:

Anyone else in the San Antonio area starting with the January '09 class? ? ?

Hello! I was recently accepted into the lvn day program that starts in august... I'm so excited but so nervous... Do any of you that have been thru the lvn program have any advice or experience you are willing to share? I would really like to get some sort of idea of what to expect... I'm growing more and more anxious as the start date approaches! Any advice would be helpful as well as appreciated!!!

Ya paying that much for an associates after paying a lot to get the LVN is insane to me w/ Galen.

Lamar State College here in TX has an online bridge program from lvn to rn worth looking at for like $5k for 13 months. I don't think you ever have to go to the school and just do your clinicals at a local hospital. I am going to look into it myself as there is only so much left in my pocket book.

Hi all!

I posted to this thread a long while back asking about getting in.

Now, I have been in the SA Galen LVN-RN program since October of 2009. I am finishing up the 3rd quarter out of 5. Yay! Down hill slope!

As far as pre-reqs, I had none going in. And I'm on the 15 month length as oppossed to the 18 month.

But the catch is, I didn't, and still don't work. I was lucky enough to get to decide to strictly focus on school.

With that being said, having no pre-reqs wasn't so bad. It really only effects your first 2 (or 3, depending on which length program you're on) quarters.

It's not so much that it's difficult, but that the pre-reqs are just a lot of busy work.

But I managed well and even made the Dean's list.

They offer at least one day off in the week. Quarter 1 & 2 we had Friday's off, in quarter 3, we have thursdays off.

You start your clinicals in your 3rd (or 4th--18month program) quarter. For my clinicals I was at Downtown Baptist. We had an evening clinical. Our clinicals are on Mondays. Absolutely loved it! Learned a lot, and had a great instructor. And the RN's at BMC were nice enough to let us follow and observe things.

So far I've loved Galen. I went straight into the RN program from the Galen LVN program.

The board of nursing came in earlier this week and reccommended us for FULL accredidation, this is what I've heard, so classes should be getting close to being transferrable for a future BSN.

Hopefully this helps a bit.

Any other questions, let me know!

Congratulations on passing the LVN and RN from Galen!!!! I am still in the process of getting accepted in Galen for LVN classes starting on January 31st. I hope i get accepted, theres so much questions i wish i could ask you. :)

I am a pre nursing student in florida, Im moving to san antonio and was interested in galen but I did have some concern about the whole lvn to rn since It seems as though it would hold you up, also I have completed alot of classes already IE ap1 ap2 microbiology, college alg, statistics, pre calc, sociology, psycology, developmental psy, nutrition, comp 1 and others. How would having these classes affect the time it would take me to actually finish the program, Iv already been in school for 2 years? I know If I transfered to a 4 year nursing program I would only have 2 and a half years at most left for a bsn.

Thank you for starting this 'Thread' It has been really helpful on making my decision on attending. My wife will be attending the classes first. looking to start in jan 2012 or april 2012. Congrats on everyone getting accepted, graduating and advancing. I sure do hope Galen willl offer the BSN option soon. Good luck and God speed to all

Hello! I see that you are planning on starting Jan 2012 or April 2012. Did you start in Jan? I am starting in April 2012. It would be great to already know someone when I start.

I'm also starting Galen's lvn program April 2012 :) I'm very excited.

Can anyone tell me how the test was to enter the RN program.....pls im trying to start the next class.

was the entrance test hard?

was the entrance test hard?
The exam wasn't to hard...there are study guides you can buy, but the science portion is pretty much either you know it or you don't. I'd just focus more on the math...and the reading questions to the passages...

Can anyone give me honest reviews on the Galen school of nursing in SA. I am planning to move to sa, 200mi away to attend the lvn program. However, I have read so many negative reviews on how the school is run and how the teachers dont care about the students, not accurate clinical sites etc etc. Any reviews will help me so much, before I plan to get loans for 30K for tuition, plus living off campus. Thank You.
