Hi there, I'm trying to find out if any one can tell me wich classes will I need to take first , (for my AA ), before Im able to start taking the nursing ones. Excelsior wants me to register first and so does The Network College, before they can tell me what classes I need. If any one can help....

thanks

Hi,

Are you an LPN now? I'm not sure if Excellsior has nursing courses for non-licensed people but I could be wrong. Is the Network College a nursing program? Hopefully others will write in with more on that. I'm not a big fan of paying and legally obligating myself to a company that won't even tell me what I need as a pre-requisite. You could probably take gen-ed classes at a local community college cheaper anyway. I hope you find more answers. Good luck. Jules

Hi there thanks for the reply, yes I'm an LPN now, I also agree with you on having to pay a registration prior of getting information, I do know that I can take classes in a community college but with 2 kids and a full time job ,leaves me very little time, but I'm thinking of contacting them, maybe they can let me know wich classes I will need for my Rn....

I have found that most vary a bit but here are the basics from all the programs I looked into:

A&P 1 and 2

Micro

Growth/Development

Psych 101

Sociology 101

English 101 and 102

College level Math, urghhh

Computer literacy either class or test out depending on school

Arts/Humanities (this one has been a pita for me, each school wants something just a little different)

Thats about all I can remember off the top of my head and at a CC you should be able to do most of them online also. I did CLEP exams for Psych, Soc and a couple of englishes but again check with your school because they are all different with what they will accept. Make sure if you do an online program that your BON will accept it. Last I heard my state isn't taking Excellsior anymore. Best of luck and just keep hunting till you find the right one for you. Jules

Hi Jules, thanks for the info , it help me a lot, now I can check into either taking them on line with a CC or trough Excelcior,I will chek on E bay for the study guides..are you an LPN or RN???

thanks

I'm an LPN starting the Bridge to ADN this fall at a CC. Its only 2 semesters total and the fall schedule is only 3 days a week. I work so it is doable. Not sure what the spring semester will be like but fall doesn't sound too bad. Wish me luck!

Good for you, that is my plan also, I find out that they have something new for the bridge program , they allowed you to do it on line, not sure about how it works since is somenthig new... what state are you in? was it hard to get in the program??My best wishes for you, hope it goes well and quick!!!
