Challenge exam (Kaplan?) or NACE LPN-RN bridge Tennessee

Hi everyone :)

I am currently an LPN in an LPN-RN bridge program at Tennessee State University. My classmates and myself have had a lot of confusion about what our challenge exam will be like. In previous semesters, the NLN NACE (?) exam was given and if the student passed it, they essentially have tested out of fundamentals and med surg one. Our instuctor says it has now been changed to a Kaplan challenge test which will be a new system for this program. When other students have asked how to prepare for this test, she tells us to read both our Fundamentals book and Med surg books from front to book in their entirety. Even if I was not working full time I would not have the time to do that. So, my question is.. has anyone heard anything about a Kaplan challenge test or has anyone taken this elusive Kaplan challenge exam? My instructor seems to know less about it than we do... Or does anyone have any suggestions on preparing for a test similar to the NLN NACE exam? I have been reading my husband's med surg and fundamentals notes as he just graduated from an RN program last month. I also have an ATI Fundamentals review book to go over. It is a frustrating situation to say the least. Any feedback and tips are greatly appreciated :) Thank you

I took the ace test a month or so ago....it's extremely similar to the pn nclex. I used the Saunders nclex study guide to study but it really didn't help at all. It's almost like you can't study for it. You either know the material or you don't. I will say the questions themselves are not difficult. Like they don't ask you insanely hard questions about things you've never heard of. If you did well in LPN school, you should do fine. Sorry I can't be any more of help. Good luck!

I did very well in LPN school and I've done great in the past two RN classes, but I have been an LPN for almost 4 years so I am hoping I've still got it when it comes to Nclex thinking haha. I have been an ER nurse and now I work in a family practice clinic so I do not do alot of med-surg type situations.

I'm sure it will come back to you :) as I said the questions themselves are not difficult. But, as with nursing, there are two answers that could be correct but one is more correct yes it's that type of test! Just make sure you read everything carefully and take your time.
