Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

I have been an LPN for over 20 years, with my experienced I have been told I am overqualified. I have lived out of state in both MA and CO and worked as a charge nurse in both a dual diagnostic unit and in a methadone clinic. I returned to this state 2 years ago and LPN's seem to be fading out in many areas of nursing. My field of nursing id in both correctional nursing and detox/behavioral health. I currently attend a local community college, but the waiting list for any of the health related courses like anatomy is ridiculously long! I have been told by my adviser to even get into the program there's a waiting list up to 2 years! All my pre reqs are done! I even went to the same college years before I moved out of state and it seems it still is the same. That being said I am thinking about going for my BSN it seems to me that even if I get my RN NYS is requiring all RN's to get their BSN's within a year of obtaining their RN license. In fact a good friend of mine has even been told to get her Master's from her employer and she already has her BSN! In my opinion NYS really needs to look at their objectives, with the shortage of nursing in this state. What schools in the area of Rochester, NY can anyone recommend?
