Would it be possible to take another class?

I am currently in my 2nd semester of a LVN program. Going to the LVN program was a choice I made to sort of jump start my career, but I had spent 3 years at a CC taking my prereqs and required courses for either ADN or transfer for BSN. I still have to take Microbiology and Physiology, both w/ lab.

I really want to go directly from LVN-RN after I finish this program. Well, I would like to work and go to school if at all possible, to pay back some of these loans. In order to apply for RN programs, I need to complete these two classes.

I have an opportunity to take one of the two classes in the Fall semester at the community college, two mornings a week. I am in an evening LVN program. I am not sure if I would be taking on too much at one time.

Would this be insane? I am a good student and have been able to manage good grades and understanding of the materials. I don't want to compromise my LVN program to keep up with these other classes. Anyone here have some advice for me? Thanks.

:studyowl:

I don't really have any advice for you but I am also wondering about this same thing. I start the LPN program this fall and also want to go straight to the LPN-RN bridge program when I am finished. I too have a few classes to finish up for before I can get into the RN program. I am going to try to take 1 class each semester along with my nursing program, IF I see that I can handle it. Psych would be a good one to take online, as well as Ethics. I think that Micro would be a bit much along with your nursing classes. I am taking it right now and it requires a lot time. I will keep up with this thread because I am also curious to hear everyone's opinion on this subject. Good luck to you.

Hi!

I wonder if Physiology would be any easier? I have done Anatomy w/ lab, plus anatomy & physiology combined at through my LVN program. Maybe since I have a basic understanding of it, it might be easier. I was actually in physio prior to starting the LVN program, but dropped it due to time conflicts. I already have all of my other requirements and general education classes.

The worst thing that could happen is that I sign up for the class and I realize I cannot do it, and have to withdraw a couple of classes into it.

I am also looking forward to hearing what other people think. Yes, the LVN course is challenging. I also think I could fit in another few hours of studying a week. Hard call though!

Good luck to you as well. Enjoy the summer before you start your program!
