LPN/LVN student section is a good idea. Thanks.

I just want to say hello my fellow LPN students. I have a general question. Do you feel your classes covered enough content? Our classes are finished in 6 weeks and we have never covered anything about labs and lab values. We are encouraged to become familiar with them during our clinical rotations but no guidance is given.

We didn't get much on lab values either. I am assuming that comes with taking classes to be a registered nurse. There were things that we were supposed to know, such as mineral levels in blood tests, but we never had a formal test that covered that. Your guess is as good as mine.....

Some other concerns, now that you mention it

We had skills labs were we were shown how to do a head to toe assessment. Then we were to practice it on our patients in clinicals. It would have been nice to get further instruction. We did listen to a machine that simulated breathe sounds, but that was way back when. Not a good method of training if you ask me.

I don't know how other classes are set up, but we did relatively nothing with nutrition, which one would think would be a biggie with all the problems people are having with weight and dietary concerns.

Maybe instruction just isn't serious until a nurse decides to go on and become an RN. It could be that we get so much thrown at us that we are expected to pick up information as we go along.
