Should I prepare or just wait????

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I'm starting PN school in Nov and I'm thinking that I should start reviewing something. I'm a business person moving over to nursing so this is and will be all new to me. I want to ask current students and off course people who have already been through the program...should I start to prepare or just wait? From your experience do any of you wish you would have started learning something or would some of you do nothing different? Any info will be great.

Also, I'm a single parent (1 year, 9, & 11) are there any single parents that went through the PN program facing the same challenges I may face. If so, what did you do to get through and how did you manage? I don't have any family where I live just me and my three kids. I'm scared because my one year old and very attached to me and I'm thinking when it will be time for me to study and do homework he will have other plans for me. Any time management ideas will be great. Thank you all in advance.

Before I started class I read the first five chapters of anatomy and physiology and the first five of nursing fundamentals.

It was a good thing for me, I was ahead and since we hit the ground running it gave me time to review and understand better what was going on. The first several weeks are the hardest as you adjust to the heavy study schedule.

As others have said, spend time with your family while you can. You will have your nose in a book for the rest of the program.

Good luck to you, best wishes.........

I am working 35 hours a week and going to my lpn orogram and I have a 4 year old daughter that just started pre-k and she goes to after school but I am attending the part time program in the evenings 2 days a week and every other weekend clinicals>It is hard but doable.I try to do all my chores on sundays like laundry, target, ironing a weeks worth of school uniforms and grocery out of the way. When you have all that done the morning s are much easier and smoother for both you and the kids.:yeah:Try to cook dinner once or twice a week and put them into containers and use left overs the other days. When the kids come in from school let them relax have a snack watch a lil t.v. then their homework if that is the age of your children, then dinner wash up and ready for bed once you get the kids down and out early you have the rest of the night and the house to yourself to bathe, relax and study:yelclap:.Hope this helps if it applies good luck. As for the one year old just get him into a routine that he loves in the evening whether it is playing with toys, read him a few books or watch a favorite tv show but usually a warm bathe and a story did it for my daughter, just watch him every night and she what he/she likes to do to wind down and start following that. The entire ride is not gonna be a smooth sail I seen personally (6 months into my program:up:)but followings these fews rules have help me stay a little organized and sane :smokin:.Buy an Anatomy and physiology textbook and start reading up and learning the medical terminology I think that is the best idea so when you get started you are way ahead because I have noticied that it is A&P that most people are having alot of difficulty with.
