question to ask when the "do you have any questions about the program?" question comes! Yikes, I know I need to ask a couple of questions....so nervous I can't think of any. LOL.

Never mind that the woman I am meeting (the head of the whole LPN program) with is not very nice...one of those eat your young types....man I hate people like that, there's just no need to be rude and b*tchy for no reason! Very intimidating.... :uhoh3:

Well, the good part is that in 4 weeks we'll know who was selected for the Jan. program and who wasn't, I'm done with all my pre-reqs, just have the nursing classes to go. Those will be some slow moving weeks, I'm sure.

Can anyone suggest of couple of intelligent sounding questions I can ask at the meeting, in case this brain block doesnt go away?

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

Ask about the core philosophy of the program. What theory is it grounded in?

LOL

You can always ask about what the faculty expectations of students are, you can ask about clinical experiences and sites, what kind of positions past grads are now working in...

The trick to people who are "intimidating' is to look them in the eye as much as possible when you talk to them and make sure your eyes are smiling when you do. Works almost every time!

Thanks so much!!! I'm writing these down....at least I'll have something..lol!

Maybe I will ask her to explain the core philosophy of the program & what theory is it grounded in. :chuckle

I am in an LPN porgram now and there are several questions that I can think of that may or may not be good ones to ask.

-What percentage of students enter the program actually get their licence?

-What method of teaching is used? Is it self-managed learning or do the teachers actaully teach?

-What grades need to be maintained? (in my paramocology class we need to get at least 80% on our mid-term or we get the boot)

-How much lab time is there to practice the hands on excercises?

-Where are the practicums?

-What kinds of support is available for students who need extra help?

I hope that helps with some of the possible questions or maybe gets you thinking of some others.

Thanks MaraG.

My appt actually got postponed until Tuesday the 27th. So, now I have plenty of time to come up with some good questions.

Thanks again.
