need some opinions on lpn programs

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

trying to decide on a school for lpn program in Philadelphia or surrounding area, any suggestion????

Run my dear run. Get your Rn.

I think it's a little far for you, but I went to Northampton Community College and their program is awesome. Very fast paced but all of the instructors and professors were great.

I wouldn't jump right to run though. I wanted to be a nurse and I chose LPN because it's a one year program and I figured I could get some experience in the field that way and make a little more money than I was at the time while I went back to school to become an RN. I work in LTAC and don't let the title fool you, I've seen some LPNs that can run circles around RNs. So don't think that the lesser title makes you less of a nurse. But I will warn you, at least in the Northampton County area, for someone just out of school with no experience you're more than likely gonna start out with long term care....but I have been seeing some positions posted in doctors offices and hospitals for LPNs...but they want that experience. I've also seen a lot of RNs that say long term is who would hire them so they come, get some experience and move on.

It all depends on what area of nursing you want to work in and what your situation is.
