Do you think it can be done with a newborn and one yr old? How hard is the program? Anyone else juggling young kids and lvn school?

Do you think it can be done with a newborn and one yr old?
People have completed the LVN program with infants and toddlers at home. However, you will need a reliable network of daycare providers and/or family to make it happen. You can't miss school because the baby is sick. At the LVN program that I attended, students were placed on probation if they accrued 3 absences per term, and were dismissed from the program if they accrued any more absences than that.

How hard is the program?
You don't need to be academically gifted to complete a nursing program. Some people wil think it is easy while others will think it is the hardest schooling they have ever undergone. It all depends on your previous academic preparation and learning style.

Anyone else juggling young kids and lvn school?
Many VN students are parents of very young children. It can be done.

I will also repost a comment that I wrote in 2006 in response to "Is the LVN program difficult?" So, here goes...

I think we must all remember that every individual has a different idea of what constitutes a 'difficult program'.

I attended a private LVN program last year. Some students thought it was overwhelmingly difficult, whereas others thought it was relatively easy.

My next statement might be construed as 'controversial', but here it is. The immigrant students who were educated in other countries seemed to do very well in the LVN program and thought it was very easy. The students who attended grade school in the United States seemed to struggle more with the LVN program and frequently complained that it was hard.

I am a sixth-generation American who has never attended school outside the U.S., so please don't flame me for relaying my observations.

Do you think it can be done with a newborn and one yr old? yes I do I have a 4 month old baby and im more determine than ever to get this finish so yes I think it can be done.

How hard is the program? I don't know how hard it is but some people said it is some said it's not so I think only u can answer that question I will be starting this fall, I personally know others that have kids and go to school and they are juggling it very well so go right ahead and do what u need to do.

As the previous comments refer, it depends on what you define as "hard". I am pre nursing as well, I have heard so different stories of the nursing program, essentially it comes down to your commitment and determination. I am learning that you absolutely have to take your classes seriously. No excuses. No room for failure. I believe that with God anything is possible. You can get through school with your babies, in tow, you have to have a good support network. You have prioritize your study time, you still have to be mommy as well. It can be done. It takes strategic planning and much discipline. You'll be fine. Go for it. It will be over before you realize and you will be able to make living wages for you and your family. Good luck. I am currently in my last quarter of LPN school. When I started my daughter was 6 months old, it wasn't easy. I had to have a lot of help. Luckily my parents and my husbands parents were able to watch her while I was in class and he was at work. It's not unattainable, you just have to prepare for long nights of studying.

It won't be easy, but it can be done!!I have a 2 year old & a 4 month old & will be graduating next week!!It took alot of hard work & effort, but if you keep your eyes on the prize you will be just fine.

Going to lpn school can be down with young children. Im am in my first quarter of lpn school. I havevtwo children a one year and seven month, they are a year and 26 days apart. As long as you have a good support system. What helps mevthrought school is putting my children on a schedule. Everyday after to school I go home and study or do any assignments. Before picking my children up from daycare, its so hard to study with my children wanting my attention. I pick my kids and play with them. I put them to bed betwwen 7:30 to 8:30. I study somenights qfter they are sound asleep. It is not easy, but it can be done. Good in your journey of nursing
