i have been accepted at greater lowell and wanted to know if the teachers are nice and the program is flexible. Thanks

Hi- First off....Congratulations on getting accepted! :yeah:

I have my NET exam on June 2nd.. I can't answer your question about the teachers but the schedule I can.

There are 2 options. First option is

Day: Monday-Friday 8am-230pm or

Night/Wkd: Monday-Thursday 4-1030pm and every other weekend 8-230pm.

I have to ask you though- Was there Science on the NET? How was your interview? and one last question I promise- how long did it take from the time you took the exam fom the time you wre notified you were accepted into the program?

But for your question about the teachers is a good one- Has anyone graduated from the Lowell Volk and can answer this question? Im hoping they have a sense of humor and although the program is intense I dont want to feel like I'm in jail while I am there! lol-

there wasn't any science but there is an essay. the interview lasted for an hour and it took like a month to get the accepted letter. gud luck on the exam

I am also taking the NET on June 2 at Lowell Tech. I have been out of school for 20 yrs so I am trying to brush up on my math - esp algebra!!!

How long does it take to find out your score for the NET? I am in the process of getting my high school transcript and some letters of recommendation. How soon after taking the NET is the interview?

I am applying to the evening program - what about you guys?

Thanks in advance for answering the questions!

akua thank you so much for replying! That is so helpful!

Susan great questions ( I have so many in my head lol) I am applying for days so I can work nights and weekends (ya it will definately test my strength!) I have 5 books out and a CD ROM from the library for study tools hahaha

Akua are you applying for evenings or day?

JMarie - I am applying to the evening program - that way I can work days. Plus I live 45 min away (without traffic) so I thought I would just have to get up too early. Hopefully I can avoid the traffic for the nite program.

I have been studying the NET guide but I have been concentrating on the math - I just can't get the hang of the algebra so I am going to have my 13 yr old cousin tutor me! But every site I look at says the Reading is harder so I am going to start concentrating on that now. I have been out of school for 20 yrs so its hard to get the brain working in school mode again!

Do you know anything about the program or the faculty?

ya I am about 40 min away without traffic too! ya I hear ya about the math and I also too hear the english seems to throw people for a loop..I am just studying everything - I am so thrilled to hear there is no Science!! I am just trying everything I can!!

I do not know about the program or about the teachers unfortunately...anyone on here know?

once you get your accepted letter you can call to book an appointment. seriously the english is very hard. Is 23 or 30 passage questions and you only have 30mins for it. And the maths is 33 question with 30 mins to be done.

I am sorry I hate to be "that" person its just I HAVE to get in and am so nervous that there is a chance I won't. How many passages was there to read? Your answers have been so helpful and I cannot thank you enough!!! :rcgtku:

I am more hopeful knowing the math has only 33 questions I am not going to lie!

Anymore info on the NET you or anyone that has taken it at GLtech can provide would be sooo appreciated!

AKUA - thaks for the info - I was assuming the math was 60 questions in 60 min. I still cant get the

hang of the algebra but I can do all the other problems. Was there a lot of algebra? What about the essay?

I think the reading is hard because you have to pick the answer that they want you to

pick not neccesarily the right answer (at least thats what Ive read online). I just think that

they dont give you enough time for the reading either.

JMarie - I am stressing too - esp since this is the final time to take the exam. I "have" to get in

too because I just dont want to wait another year(esp because I am 40!). But when I emailed the secretary, they

said there were still spots available so I am thinking as long as we pass the NET, we are in (hopefully)!

That is what I am thinking too susan about if we pass then we are in! hopefully!

I also thought it was 60 math problems...Yes anymore info about the NET at gl tech would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!

I passed the NET at Greater Lowell and it took almost exactly three weeks for me to get my test results back. I'm really nrevous about the interview but hopefully I'll be ok.

I dont think the test was all that hard and the NET Study guide is seriously a great help to prepare for it. The questions on the reading part are hard and the passages are pretty long but if you brace yourself and read quickly but carefully you'll be fine. And the math if not very long but if you're not a math person you'll freak out like I did!! haha! I barely passed the math section.

Let me know how you guys do and hopefully we'll be able to meet at the school!!!

Good Luck everyone!!! :D
