I just started a 20 month LPN Program last week...I make myself nervous IDK I think I anticipated the worse ever and it is not too bad YET...doing some math F.O.N, A&P, Nutrition and Growth and Development. I feel like it is very scattered and I would just like some others input how do you study for some of these courses it is not all memorization well minus A&P...Do you read and take notes how did you do it?? I am stressing out because I dont have any actual test dates but I feel like I need to know this stuff in and out right now before the test comes!! ....Maybe I am stressing way too much I just dont want to fail out I want to get great grades as we all do :)

well they are all separate, for now. They are trying to teach you all of these seperate things so you have a solid foundation and can build up and connect everything when you move onto medsurg. It may not make sense now, but it will, I promise. Once you get to there you will know why different diseases affect the body as they do and what to do about it. But for now, just take notes- I took LOTS OF THEM! Get a recorder and ask the teachers if they mind you recording there lectures. Be well organized and do all of the reading that you are assigned. If you dont get soemthign ask for extra help. Basically this is stuff you just have to know, so however you get to that point, just do it. It seems impossible but youll get the hang of it- youve only been there for a week or so. Once you figure out what works for you, then it will become much easier, as long as you keep up and dont get lazy lol which is hard to do soemtimes. Another little tip, use the handouts as a guide for studying. If you see somethign in the book the teacher is talkin about, then highlight it- use whatever information the teacher goes by- dont kill yourself on the whole chapter if that istructor says its not what shes teaching, cuz most of the time, whats gonna be on the test is what she is talking about during lecture. While it is nice to kn ow EVERYTHING, sometimes you cant and have to prioritize!~ Good luck to you!

Where are you from and attending? Your classes sound like they were in the same order as mine were, which the teachers said they did things in a little bit of a different order than most programs, since they felt it had made more sense.

I just started last Thursday. We have had medical term, A&P, Pharm and funds I & II. It is a lot to take in. I have been finding that notecards works best for me. During lectures we go over the chapters and I have a highlighter and make sure everything they mention or hint to I highlight than later on that night I make sense of it in my notes. Try to find a study buddy in the class, it will help a whole lot. Good luck!
