Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I am in need of information on the Lpn pre admissions test. I am extremly nervous as I have been out of school for a long time and need to know basic info to see where I would stand on this. I am going to try to get into a brand new Lpn class and it is required before we even enroll ... which I was surprised of ... it is not common in most schools around here...i am in ohio. So did anyone take it and how prepared were you. Math will be my weak point. I ordered a book recommended by the school. I would have to pass at 60% the first time. Any info would be soooo appreciated. Oh yhea should I try to get the test scheduled in a couple of weeks so there is a chance for me to retake it... or prepare and take it the last possible test date.... cant make my mind up on this one.:banghead:...thanks so much for any help

If you graduated High School you should be able to pass the test. The Science is the hardest. The math is basic algebra, arithmetic and fractions. Study using the recommended book you should be fine. Some of the people who passed the test in my school had their GED

You may be surprised to find out you actually do better than you expect to on your exam. That was the case for me. I had also been out of school for many years and then got my GED before completing a LPN program. I actually managed to pass it (GED) with a really high score and didn't even require any remedial courses. Math is also my weakest subject. I was an A/B student during the LPN program.

Now if I can just pass the NCLEX next Wednesday and get my LPN license I will truly be a happy camper!

While it is true that most of the questions are just basic knowledge you should still brush up on things. I have been out of high school since 1992 and before taking my NET last year I hadn't looked at fractions since then. I completly forgot how to change fractions to decimals and the differences between adding, subtracting, multiplying and division for them.

I bought a study guide at a book store and had my 12 year old and hubby re-teach me. My entrance exam had graphs and pie charts on it also. It's not difficult but many things you once knew may be long forgotten. I did math tests at home for about 3 weeks before my exam and passed just fine.

So, while it's not geometry, you might want to review a bit.

I am happy to say that I am now entering my last level of school and will be done early December....and dosage calculation has not been a problem.

thanks so much .. i did order a book to review and hope to get it about 3 weeks prior. i am going to try to have my niece or son help me to understand math better. i hear that nursing math makes more sense but you still need the basics... fractions scare me ...thanks everyone
