hello fellow students:]

i am just about to throw myself into the school circus again,i am currently a rca working in dementia for four years,i start a one year lpn program in a few weeks.did you experience alot of fear of failure, anxiety going into it? i work with so many women that are content to ,or will not upgrade to lpn or r.n,because of academic upgrading, the expense, lack of recognition as lpn, less than 2.oo$ an hour difference.despite my fears i am going for it,and like alot of you i am late 30's :] i really feel excited about this,i am aware of how much work it is....there is so much flux with healthcare, the economy, that i wanted more security, options, and of course more financial opportunity.did you find that once school started ,once you settle in,,meet people, form good study habits that the fears lessened?i am a worrywart, hard on myself, and aim high..it can be exhausting!thank-you for reading, and hopefully responding.

I was terrified to put it mildly when I first started. I still get anxious about tests in 2 of my classes as they are both very fast moving classes. Other than that I have gotten much more comfortable after getting to know the routine & my classmates. So know you're not alone, I think most of us go through it :)

Well, it's an incredible amount of work but you can do it! I'm half through my second trimester. I was VERY anxious about starting but have done well. I still get anxious every time we start something new but it's all been okay so far. I just remind myself of that.

I spent 4-5 hours with my nose in a book the first three months. Other people told me to expect that. I thought they were exaggerating. They weren't.

Good luck!

Completely irrelevant, but RCA less the $2.00 more an hour compared to LPN or RN? Or am I interpreting something different, I thought it was quite higher than $2.00 more an hour. Anywho, I wish you luck. I'm 21 and this is actually my first career, also we started in January, but I was like you. I was very nervous and doubted my abilities and lacked a lot of confidence, but a month into the program and my confidence has already increased so much. I think it's normal for anyone to experience these feelings before hand. It will get better though! You can do it!
