I'm starting the LVN program at Galen in Jan 2014. Anyone graduated recently or attending on here? It would be nice to pick your brain! :)

Hi! Good luck with you. Galen is the best (I am sure there but I was graduated at Tampa Fl). Good choice.

Thanks! I'm so excited and really nervous all at the same time. I've been wanting to be a nurse forever and a special turn of events allowed me to be here. Any advice on how to prepare? Organization, supplies...anything would help me. :) Thanks!

Hi I saw that you were starting the LVN program in January at San Antonio and so am I! Did financial aid work pretty well with you? I received financial aid and also applied for a Sallie Mae loan so I was just wondering how smooth the process went for you or how it works. I don't see too much info about it anywhere lol

Hi Tashaxi,

In my opinion the finacial aid/administration portion of this school is lacking. :( They are very unclear in some cases. I just so happend to hear about orientation and available CPR classes. I never got an email like we were told we would.

Fortunatly I am using my GI Bill so I didnt need to apply for any loans. Personally, I think they need more training to make it an easier experience.

I start in April! I was suppose to start in January but my transcripts from UTSA weren't available in time. I have already taken A&P and the labs so I really didn't want to have to take them all over again:) You ladies don't mind if I pick your brains since you are a semester ahead of me do you? How are you liking your first two weeks?

Good Luck Jana_co. I personally am excited. Our first two weeks are an eye opener for some i think. I'm super tired but pretty prepared for whatever. It's all very quick paced so you just need to be prepared! We have a lot of tests coming up.

I start in April as well! Im super excited. Are you doing the day or evening program?

I'm starting the program in April also! I wasted so much time trying to get into a community college nursing program back home in CA. We moved here in Oct due to the military, I am so thankful for all of the opportunities here in San Antonio as far as nursing school goes.

Jen, Are you entolled in the day or evening program? I am doing the evening.. Although I wish I could afford to quit my job and go FT days, but that isn't possible :-(

I will be going to the day program. I was originally going to do the evening program and continue working also, but my husband retires in about 2 1/2 years so I have to buckle down and get it done! Evening or day, it doesn't matter, you are headed in the right direction and will be so proud of yourself when you finish!

I will be in the day program and we are military as well!!! I am way excited to start. I busted my butt to make amazing grades and make the cutoff for UTHSC to find out my nutrition wouldn't transfer:/ I wouldn't even start until 2015.... Being military I just can't wait that long.
