Hello everyone,

I applied for the full time program for August of 2012 and was accepted but due to financial reasons couldn't start at the time. I'm now in a better position and have a full-time stable job so I can do the program part-time now. I already done my HESI and Tabe so I don't have to worry about anything except: reapply, drug screen, references, and interview. Everything is ago, just trying to find stable child care for the class and clinical schedule. Is anyone else applying for the program for October 2013 start?

I took all my paperwork on Monday to TECO and I did my drug test yesterday. I spoke with the Program Specialist, and she said no need to rush the paperwork because it doesn't have to be submitted until August. However, I'm just so excited that the time is close and just ready to start. I just need to wait to hear back about the interview and double-check that everything else is already submitted. I can't wait until I hear from them!

Hi Nathifalr26 ,

I plan on applying to the Teco program, but im afraid I wont pass the HESI.I have no clue what to study or how to study it.Im new to the area and im feeling a bit hopeless. Any advise?

Hi Jasmine4710,

Don't be scared! I was petrified and thought I failed. I actually passed with a 94 or 96! It wasn't easy and the main thing I was nervous about was the time limit and making sure I remembered everything. I recommend that you buy the HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review book 3rd edition and buy the McGraw-Hill's Nursing School Entrance Exams. There are 8 practice tests in there. I have the one without the CD but if you want to you can do it with the CD for extra practice. I think that one has 16 practice tests total. My weakness is math so I concentrated a lot on that but I also made sure I focused and study everything else too. Also, you can buy the Kaplan Math for nurses to study math, they have conversions and measurements on there. That helped me a lot. Did you inquire with the school already about the process?

Oh thank you so much . Im going to buy the books as soon as I can, I think my friend can loan me hers too. But how long did you study for? Because my weakness is also in math too,i suck at the basic stuff and feel I wont have enough time to study ,take the test and pass before the deadline which I think for the part time is Aug 1st ,but its my fault for waiting for the last minute .With that being said no I haven't had a chance to go up to the school but I have been on the web site and I know I need to score a 12 on the tabe test (which im worried about also )other then that I know nothing else. So how long have you lived in the area? I moved here a year ago with my daughter and husband , and I must say there are more opportunities here ,but pay here sucks, working as a CNA for 8.50 hr is not cutting it .And being here without any family or friends is really hard . But about the child care thing I not sure where you live but I know this good child care place in Dr.Philps the rates a pretty good and snacks are included.

I only study I think a few days before (2-3 days even) but I had also briefly studied for the Tabe before hand-mainly review-and that helped a lot because I was so nervous about taking it. I let go and let God with that one. The Tabe was so simple! I took mine at Orlando Tech because I was looking between there and TECO to see what program I wanted to take. So I think you will do okay. There is a website to study for the TABE: TABE Progress Checks. I would just contact them and see what they say-you never know. Where do you work? I'm currently looking for a part-time or PRN job as a CNA but I know the pay is nothing close to what I make at my current full time job but I can use the extra income. I'm a single parent. I work near Dr. Phillips, where do you take your daughter for childcare? My son is at a daycare out in Kissimmee, just simpler that way for me.

That's great! Did you start the process as yet? Did you already take the TABE and HESI?

I didn't have to take the Tabe, I have my AA. I took the Hesi but failed my grammar by a few points so I have to retake it. Hopefully I pass it this next time. I have my references and everything else but haven't took the drug screen yet. Have you heard anything about your interview yet?
