first off i would like to congratulate you on your acceptance. i was exploring the program approximately a year and half ago, but my work scheduled did not allow for me to pursue the program at the time; and to also say that the tuition was a bit to expensive. anyways, i met a young woman in queens wearing a white scrub with the schools logo on it. i approached and questioned her about the program. she told me that the program was good, but there is a lot of self-study (which is expected). so don’t be alarm about the commute from bklyn to nj and what negative comments you may hear about the program. just take it all in and stay focus (i guess). i may apply to the program after the january 24th class begins. so keep in touch and let me know what your outlook and/or initial experience were like.

Thank you Junie Bug...I will definetely keep you posted...I have heard both good and bad, you're are absolutely right the tuition is a bit much considering the programs in LI are just as good and don't cost as much! Have you tried to look for the Boces..they are accepting applications now for the fall...I'll keep you posted on how it goes..thanks:jester:

i know that the brooklyn adult learning center are currently accepting applications until january 15th, 2011 (i think) on-line. the unfortunate thing about it is that they only accept students once per year and if you fail the entrance test you can’t continue until the next cycle period, which sucks. i also find it unhelpful that ny/nj offers limited lpn programs; and for that reason they formulate these ridicules prices for tuition. i’m from fl and i have been living in ny for approximately 8 years and i’m to the point of pursuing my nursing education there because they have plenty of nursing programs that is very affordable compared to these outrageous prices that ny/nj are asking for. i will check out the program in li and find out what their requirements are, but i’m keeping my options open if it means completing a 5 weeks cna program for experience purposes only. also, i’ve been on this site all day today and read a few posts about the can-nj lpn program having to take an exit exam in order to receive the diploma and take the exam. do you know that?

Junie bug, trust me when I tell you that I feel your pain, these people practically make it impossible to find a good program at a decent price. I have been at this for awhile and occasionally on this site you always hear people saying"well if you don't do good on the test then you shouldn't be a nurse" But truth is not everybody functions on the same level and half of these nurses that do have 'BOOK SMARTS' lack the common sense to actually be a good nurse. i personally suck at taking a test that I know nothing about, meaning the NLN for example every year it chgs and it could possibly have more bio then chem or more physics and you try and study but it's such a broad spectrum of things that you need to know. I am okay with an exit exam I think that they do need it and it's different to the entrance exam because this is what they have prepared you for in the 12 months or so that you have been studing with them, and not only do schools like CANNJ have it but schools like BMCC. Anyways I'm sorry it's so long but I want to give you the info on Boces:

Eastern Suffolk Boces 631-582-2387 apps were being given starting Nov 1

VEEB Nassau apps are being given in the end of Jan 516-572-1704

www.cnetnurse.com deadline is very soon so check

LICH and Beth Israel have a deadline of april 1st for fall call for the app..:uhoh3:

Muneca13, I totally understand how you feel. For me it’s beginning to be a bit overwhelming. Why? I find myself reading and purchasing workbooks so I can refresh my mind for some of these entrance exams. By the way, I graduated high school almost 10 years ago and some of these study material are very forgettable to me. It’s difficult for me to put my mind at ease (when it comes to studying) when the LPNs programs are limited and overly priced. Just to say my background is in Social Services working for the NYC-Administration of Children Services as a Social Worker. Although I went to college, I could have gone straight for my RN but I first wanted to get the practical skills along with the knowledge and understanding first before I get myself ‘in-to-deep’; and when I complete my RN-BSN, career hunting will not be too challenging for me because I will already have a bit of experience under my belt. Some take this career as a recession-proof package, which makes it difficult for the ones who ‘really’ want to pursue this career path. I’m trying to look for a reasonable and affordable LPN program where I can take it from there. Thanks for the info. I will definitely check them out, and whatever info. I find I will past it on to you as well via PM.

SN: You can also send me a Private Message (PM). Also, don’t worry because God will take you where He wants you to go because He knows what your heart desires. Just don’t be discouraged, but more so encourage. He gave us Life so, we should live it abundantly according to His will. If this is what ‘we’ want to do, then we should just do it.
