Hi everyone!

I am a pre-nursing student trying to figure out what path to take to get into a nursing program.

Tonight, I am going to an LVN information meeting for a program that starts in October. I was wondering if there are specific questions and concerns I should have about an LVN program. So basically, what are some important questions to ask?

For instance, does being in an LVN program make me a full time student? I need full time student status in order to stay on my parents insurance.

If there are any other concerns that I should have about the program... let me know!! Also, any information about your experience about becoming an LVN would be so helpful!!!

I attended an LVN program in Southern California not too long ago. I was enrolled in the full-time LVN program, so I was considered a full-time student. However, the school also offered two part-time LVN programs, and those students weren't considered full-time students.

Here are some more questions to ponder:

1. Is the LVN program accredited? Be advised that accreditation is totally different from state approval.

2. If I later decide to become an RN, will the credits earned at this school transfer to other schools?

3. How much is the tuition?

4. What is this school's NCLEX-PN pass rate percentage? If you cannot pass the NCLEX-PN, then you cannot work as a nurse.

5. How long has this LVN program been in existence?

6. What is the average starting pay rate of an LVN who graduates from this particular nursing program?

7. Does this school offer job placement assistance upon graduation?

Thank you SO much!!! Those questions are very good, and I will definitely ask them! The program I am considering is The Orange County ROP and it only costs $2000, and I would be full time. There is a pre-req I would have to take and it doesnt seem too difficult I would much rather pay $2000 then $18,000 if you know what I mean. I just hope the ROP has a good program.
