Failed Nclex 3 times. Advice PLEASE !!!

Nurses LPN/LVN

Hi guys, i have this one friend, whom i graduated lpn school with in june 06, and they just got their 3rd set of results back and they failed again. I'm so hurt for them. My friend didn't even call me to let me know, they just sent me a text message, through the cell phone. I think they fell really bad, i wanted to wait a day or so before calling, But when i do call, i want to have some real advice. Please give me some good advice to give. Because my friend is as smart as i am, we started at the same time and we finished at the same time. I just don't know. Does anyone know how many times u can take it?

I dont know how many times you can take the exam, but I passed the first try and what I did was get a Nclex study it hard and daily. When answering questions in the review book remember to read the rational for the questions you get right also. Read why it is right, and why it would be wrong. Think of it like this.. there are only so many questions to be asked, they are just asked in different ways. If you know why something is right as well as wrong you cant go wrong. Good luck to your friend.

I think that you should just support your friend at this time. Dressjean is right, you have to practice questions, read ALL rationales and continue to read the material. Did she take a review course? Or, did she have a tutor? What were her study habits really like? I am not saying that she did not study hard...and NCLEX is really a crap shoot...it depends how you are asked, what questions that you get. But, you are not around this person 24 hours in a day. How much time did she dedicate to this? I would just suggest to her a review course if she didn't take one, maybe get a tutor if possible, and really committing to serious study. The other comments are just food for thought for yourself.

I have to admit, the whole process of nursing school and NCLEX really infuriated me because the whole thing is a crap shoot. I did pass NCLEX the first time around, with minimum questions, but, for me the test was hard. I really did not recognize a great deal, and I thought I failed. Also, I was so nervous before the exam, that I made a promise to myself that win, lose or draw, I would not allow myself to experience this ever again. Imagine how brave your friend is for even making a 3rd attempt...and I know that she is hurting. Send her text messages or email if she does not speak to you right away, give her space, but let her know you are close when she needs you. You are a great friend for caring so much.
