Hello all,

Im hoping to start my LPN courses in the fall. I wanted to work in a doctors office, either peds or ob but from reading it sounds they don't get paid much? Where do you work as an LPN? What does your day consist of? What is your pay?

Specializes in Critical Care, Med-Surg, Psych, Geri, LTC, Tele,.

I'm a psych LVN. New grad. $22/hr.

PM shift

Count narcs and related items.

Get report.

Prepare meds for about 50 residents.

Give PRNs

Pass meds incl FSBS, insulin, other meds, give treatments

Give PRNs

Give nourishments

Prepare meds for about 40 residents

Lunch

Finish preparing meds

Give meds incl FSBS, insulin, other injections, give treatments

Update 24 hr log with PRNs given/unusual medical issues.

Give PRNs

Give nourishments

Order meds as needed

Receive new meds from pharmacy

Finish documentation

Break

Give report

Oncoming shift counts narcs while I read from narc book.

Go home

I also deal with unusual occurrences such as a resident experiencing S/E of a med requiring a doctors order for a med to relieve S/E; documentation related to resident physical aggression; resident having weakness/inability to stand; residents with an extremity that is unable to move; follow up on meds that need to be delivered;
