Charity SON Fall 2012

Hello Everyone!

I know I'm early but I'm super excited to begin nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else here is planning to apply to Charity for Fall 2012? Are you done with your prereqs? Taken the HESI? What's your profile score?

I have taken all of my prereqs but it has been 6 years since I took A&P II lecture/lab so I'm taking it now at Delgado. I'm taking the lecture online and I go on campus for the lab. We have only done one exercise in lab so far and I already feel like its not going to be very easy. I took the HESI on Monday and I did pretty well so I'm done with that thank God!

I calculated my profile score and if I get an A in the A&P lecture I'll have 70 points. If I get a B or C, I'll have 65 points. I'm super nervous because when I talked to the admissions lady at Charity she told me the cut off tends to be a bit higher for the Fall semester than the Spring. From reading the forum, it looks like the cut off for Spring 2012 was around a 55 so I'm worried that the cut off for Fall will be like 75!

@phil823, it is June 4th. I hope the clinical site I want is open too. I'm pretty sure it won't be though. Not only are new students picking clinical sites, but students that failed or withdrew from Basics last semester.

I need to call on Tues b/c she told us that it was the 14th. I'd rather it be on the 4th. Where are you trying to go for clinicals??

That's good that you know or have an idea of what instructors to pick since you have friend/people u know that are at charity or have graduated already. I have no idea of what instructors are good or not so, I'm really hoping that the one I pick (based on clinical site) comes out to be a good instructor :/. I hope that you get a good instructor in the end!

Thanks, me too. You can go to ratemyprofessors.com, and click on Delgado. Then you can read about some of the instructors according to the ones that are listed for the classes. Not all of them are on there though.

@Phi823, Lsu, Ochsner Elmwood, or Touro. What about you? Has anyone registered yet? If so, whats your clinical site?

ok, so I can log into Lola to see the nursing courses, etc under my mom's acct since she doesn't have any holds, and only 26 people registered so far. I want St Tammany on Sat for my clinicals and 2nd choice is Ochshner Kenner. I've heard that the clinical instructors at Touro and LSU are awesome though. They have 2 spots left for LSU and 8 spots left for Touro. And there are4 spots left for Elmwood.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about St. Tammany on Sat. too. It would be extremely convenient for me and my husband. Do you know when we'll be starting clinicals?

i registered already! i did it this morning. i wanted (moderator edit of instructor initials - please do not post names/initials of instructors per tos) as my fist choice but for some reason i wasn't able to, so i registered ocshner kenner. that instructor was the educator of the year last year, so i hope she's good :). i am so excited!

I heard that we register on June 13th. Has anyone else heard this date? I'm hoping for ochsner north shore. Anyone else wanting ochsner north shore? I havent heard anything about the instructor I just liked that it is so close to my daughters school. If not there I was hoping for Lsu but it sounds like that might be full.

@cdiane, I was told June 4th, our packets also say June 4th. Phi823 said she was told June 14th.

I haven't heard about that one, but I heard from former students at open house not to get the one at Slidell Memorial. They said it's like boot camp.
