Charity January 2009

U.S.A. Louisiana

I just scheduled classes the other day and was curious who out there I'd be having classes with. I have pharmacology on Thursdays from 4-7pm and basics in the evenings with clinicals on Wednesday at Ochsner on Jefferson Hwy (unless they change it on us).

Specializes in nursing home,psych,chemical dependency.

Be careful !! I'm about 99.9% sure CSN requires "American Heart" CPR certification !! Check with the school.....

Tulane is an AHA training center. My card is from there and no problems w/ CSN this last semester.

OK, good, just saw previous post said,"cheaper than American Heart",,,glad you knew the details

The Tulane Life Support Center was listed in my CSN Orientation packet as an accepted CPR class. But it is in fact cheaper than the AHA classes offered through the hospitals.

Smartferret... when I signed up, they told me to take the BLS course, is that correct???

Thanks!!

apitslife,

My card specifies that I took "BLS for Healthcare Providers". I would call just to confirm that this is the class you are signed up for as there is a BLS class for the lay person that would not be acceptable at CSN. Your probably signed up for the right class, but for peace of mind, I'd call.

Does anyone have an advise on what I should be studying for basics? What will the first exam be about? I have started reading the first weeks reading assignments but this book takes so long to get to the point . Any suggestions?

I've been calling the Tulane Life Support center for a few days now and no answer!! Does anyone know of another place that offers the CPR class that we need for charity? I have to get this done soon! thanks

Tulane's ph# is 588-2212. That's the number they answer. Had to go to the american heart association's website to find that out.

okay, thank you so much! I'll call them first thing tomorrow.

hey, agc. How did u make out with tulane. I went yesterday and got my card. It was fun but more physical than I thought.:pumpiron:

I went to tulane on Monday and registered for the January 14th class. :) How did the class go?? Was it difficult??

The class was nice. The only part that was difficult was having to sit on the floor the entire time and most of that time was spent kneeling over the dummy. Other than that it was fun. We had two tests. The first was the instructors watching us perform step by step. And the second was a written test. Oh, one other thing the class was about 4 hours long.
