That is an aweful story, I too am accepted for Jan 08, and I haven't heard anything either, I'm sure they are busy getting fall of 07 underway. Hopefully we will hear something soon! I would like to ask when did you do your advising, background check and all of that, and also when is advanced registration and how does that work.

I would have to look back in my packet for dates (i'm horrible remembering dates obviously) but I think I did advising some time in March, then advanced registration was in April. I could be way off but I know it was way ahead of when the semester actually started. So be sure to do 'advanced' registration b/c if you miss that you risk losing your spot. And to register online you have to be sure you have submitted a regular Delgado application to get onto the website. (unless your are currently taking classes I believe) There were two separate background checks, one for state board of nursing and one that allowed us into hospitals for clinicals I believe. I had to do two sets of fingerprints. St Tammany Parish courthouse did mine for free. There were several forms to be filled out and lists of supplies and info of all sorts. Pay close attention to what things have to be done by what date, it can get confusing. Some things like CPR and physical and that stuff has to be done by a certain date but also shouldn't be done too early. But yeah hopefully we will get that packet soon so I can do a detailed, organized schedule of when and what to do and start buying supplies.

has anyone gotten anything else for the Jan '08 semester? when is advising??
I was originally accepted for Fall '07, I did advising, background checks and all, but missed advanced registration and lost my spot for Fall '07. I got my acceptance letter for Jan '08 and confirmed but haven't gotten anything else. Just wanted to see if anyone else has gotten any other mailing to be sure I dont mess up this semester! Thanks.

Yep, got mine too. It's about time, eh? We'll finally find out what we going to be in for! I'm going to do my advising as soon as possible. In case there's anything that I need to get done.

I got mine today too. It says that advising will be held from October 8th through the 26th and it gives the name of your advisor and their phone #......it says you should call to schedule the appt with the advisor as soon as you get this letter.At our advising meeting we'll get an info packet explaining everything we need to know about starting school.

I went to advising on Friday night. It wasn't too bad. Just lots of dates and lots of paperwork to get done. I didn't realize how much little stuff we would have to pay for (background checks, drug tests, fingerprints, liability and health insurance). I have to apply for a loan now JUST to get IN to school. C'est la vie! Hopefully it'll be worth it when I start working. I can't wait to start, it sounds like fun!

just wanted to stay in touch, how is everyones prep work going for spring 08? i think by now we should be finished with everything, immunizations, fingerprinting, insurance req etc. i am starting to get very excited again. the past few months just waiting for jan to get here and now its finally almost here (nervous, anxious, excited, scared) i would love to stay in touch with others attending jan 08-please respond!

i'm done with everything except i havent had the time to take a cpr course yet. i've started purchasing some of the books. they can be much cheaper online than buying from the school.

Hi, I've almost gotten everything done, still gotta do a CPR course, and get the Liability Insurance. Hoping to get some of the books for Christmas ! Has anyone purchased the nurse pak from City Park? I was wondering what all is in it. Who all is planning to go to the student-to-student orientation on Jan. 9th? I am planning to go. It's supposed to be a good place to hook up with other carpoolers (I'm on the northshore). Between gas, Causeway toll, and parking, it could get expensive just getting there..But, I am getting excited !!
