A Potential LNC with a NICU background

Hi everyone! I have been a NICU RN for 6 years now, straight out of nursing school. Although I love my job, I'm ready for a change. I've always been interested in becoming an LNC. I did, however, recently apply for a case management position and did not get it b/c of my lack of adult experience. The hiring manager said I had the potential to be great at the position, I just needed the experience to back it up. I'm wondering if this is going to apply to becoming an LNC? If so, should I start over and (as much as it pains me to think of this...) begin working with adults? And, also any recommendations on courses/literature to prepare for this? Thanks so much...

Hi Ernie. I also have many years of NICU experience, as well as ER and adult ICU. I work full time for a plaintiff's firm. In the 5 years I've been a nurse paralegal, I have only had 4 cases involving neonates, (3 of which we turned down) and 1 pediatric case. You really need to broaden your areas of experience. Also, most attorneys I know are looking for nurses with a minimum of 10 years experience.
