Anyone else finding the KY New RN market impossible

U.S.A. Kentucky

I'm mean I know the Louisville area is over saturated with nursing programs with what seems like more opening soon, but sheesh. They need to stop with the nursing shortage nonsense, the only shortage is for experienced nurses not new ones. At least this has been my observation. I graduated in 2008 with my ADN and feel I wasted my time and money since finding acute care employment is impossible. There are plenty of job openings, just none giving interviews to new or in my case not so new grads.

Trying to keep my spirits up, but sheesh.

Two words....Eastern Kentucky

Where in Eastern KY?

Specializes in Nurse Practitioner-Emergency Room.

I live in the southeastern part of the state. I worked as an RN, but am now an NP so I'm not terribly knowledgeable about the market, but it seems many of the hospitals here are on a hiring freeze lately. There are some job openings down this way though...

There are plenty of openings where I am at, just not for new grads right now.
