Hello

I´m a certified nurse anesthetist from Switzerland. Is there somebody who could tell me if I could also work as a CRNAS in the US?

Specializes in ACNP-BC, Adult Critical Care, Cardiology.

The short answer is probably not.

As a field of advanced nursing practice, CRNA's must also have an RN license. You will have to take the NCLEX-RN in the state you wish to work in. You undergraduate nursing degree will be assessed for equivalency based on US standards. You may actually pass this stage if your nursing program is similar to US standards.

The second part is getting certified as a nurse anesthetist. The national certification board for nurse anesthetists requires all candidates for examination to have completed an accredited CRNA program. Accredited programs are only based in the US. This is where you may run into an obstacle.
