Dear Nurses,

Hi. I am a Registered Nurse from Philippines. I am planning to live in Germany with my future husband. I also have a plan to work as a nurse in Germany. However, I don't know the requirements in order for me to be qualified to work there. Do I need to have a German course and for how many months? Do I need to have NCLEX, CGFNS, or IELTS certificates? Are there trainings before working in the hospitals? Please help me so that I can start in the near future. I really appreciate your help. Thank you so much.

Truly,

Bebs143

im also a nurse from philippines and with the same situation like bebs 143, my fiance lives in Lüdenscheid, Germany, he asked me to visit germany and stay there for 3 months and study german before getting married and continue studying when i got home. What is recognation year? i read about this from a german nurse, does recognation year still required now?

thanks..

it will depend on your education and on your language skills, the regional board will decide whether you need a recognition year or not!

if you want to work as a rn in germany you`ll have to do the recognition year, otherwise you`ll get employment as a health care aide!

during recognition year you have to show your nursing abilities beeing at the required level, show proof that you work corresponding to german law and improve your german language skills, some federal states require a written exam!

each federal state has its own education policy, you have to look for information directly from regional board, lüdenscheid is a town in northern nordrhein - westfalen so you have to search for information or e-mail your questions to

bezirksregierung arnsberg http://www.bezreg-arnsberg.nrw.de

they can guide you through application process!

your work permit will be given to you after marriage, but it will take some weeks to receive it.

german bureaucracy is very slow and you will have to fill in many forms!

further information according to immigration can be found on http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/de/startseite.html

hope this information will help you!

ja. thanks a lot.. :) i'll be inquiring in that site.. thanks thanks...:)

Thank you for posting this question. It has been very helpful.
